MSCA Objective

Main objective Ensure the optimum development and dynamic use of

Europe’s intellectual capital in order to generate new skills and innovation

Rationale Encourage new, creative types of training Identify excellent talents in research and innovation in

international competition Make best researchers in Europe and the world work

together across countries, sectors and disciplines Create a whole new mind-set in Europe, crucial for

entrepreneurship and innovation

MCA will continue as the MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions)

Funding levels ~maintained

Broad schemes ~maintained

Main features (bottom-up, mobility, career development, gender balance, employment conditions) maintained

Simplification in implementation

Broader definition of industry involvement: participation of businesses (including SMEs) and other socio-economic actors

Synergies with other parts of H2020 and with Erasmus+

Strong emphasis on outreach activities and communicating research

MSCA – Key Concepts:R&D Experience

16

Full Time Equivalent Research is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree which would formally entitle him or her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited or seconded, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate is or was ever envisaged.

Page 17: Marie Sklodowska- Curie Actions Introduction · Marie Curie Actions Significant EU fellowship programmes since 1990 (FP3) for researchers’ mobility Marie Curie label since 1996

MSCA – Key Concepts: Mobility Rule

17

Mobility Rule: At the time of the relevant deadline for submission of proposals, or recruitment/secondment by the host organisation, depending on the action, researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date.”

• Compulsory national service and/or short stayssuch as holidays are not taken into account

• In the Career Restart Panel and the ReintegrationPanel in IF, researchers shall not have resided orcarried out their main activity in the country oftheir host organisation for more than 3 years inthe 5 years immediately prior to the deadline.

TheBeneficiary

Partnerorganizations

is the host organization (EU member States or Associated) who recruits, supervises and provides training for the researcher (ER/ESR/Staff), taking complete responsibility for executing the proposed action.

do not sign the Grant Agreement and do not employ the researchers within the action. Partner organisations provide additional training and host researchers during secondments
