MARINE SURVEYOR Salary range:

The Cayman Registry, a division of Cayman Maritime, was established in 1903 and today the Register covers the full spectrum of vessel types, including commercial ships and private pleasure yachts alike. The Registry maintains headquarters in Cayman and a European Regional Office in Southampton, UK, with global representation in the USA, UK, Italy, France, Netherlands, Monaco, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

We are now seeking to employ a Marine Surveyor based in George Town, Grand Cayman and Southampton, United Kingdom to carry out statutory surveys and audits on new and existing yachts, passenger and cargo ships and provide technical support to other agencies.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct statutory surveys on all ship types in accordance with national legislation and international conventions. Undertake audits of companies and ships in accordance with the ISM & ISPS Codes, and issue related certification. Conduct Port State Control inspections in accordance with national legislation. Carry out inspections and investigations onboard Cayman vessels as may be required from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: The applicant should possess a Marine or Nautical Degree (or equivalent); relevant seagoing experience with a valid STCW II/2 or III/2 certificate of competency, and not less than three years at sea as an officer in the deck or engine department, or post graduate experience in a relevant capacity.

The applicant must have experience as either a Flag State Surveyor with a reputable Maritime Administration, Classification Society surveyor conducting statutory surveys. Other relevant qualifications and experience may be considered at Authority’s discretion.

The applicant should possess the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, excellent verbal, written communication and strong computer literacy skills.

Frequent travel worldwide, often at short notice, is an essential feature of this post. This will involve visits to our client’s vessels and their shore based establishments, to carry out statutory surveys and audits
