    The Maritime Labour Convention -

    Training Course at Mumbai, 21st

    May 2011

    The International Labour Organisation has adopted the Maritime Labour Convention.

    Upon entry into force all ships coming within the scope of the Convention and being above 500 tons in

    international trade must have a Maritime Labour Certificate (with a Document of Maritime Labour

    Compliance attached) documenting compliance with requirements.

    In addition companies will have to develop measures and procedures for ongoing compliance and

    continuous improvement (in a Declaration of Maritime Labour Compliance) as required in the Convention.
