Erin + Taylor

Erin and Taylor had a “Simply Beautiful” nautical themed wedding at the Black Dolphin Inn with the reception at the New Smyrna Yacht Club. With Lindsay Rachael Events taking care of the wed-ding planning, Erin had the most “amaz-ing” day of her life.

Erin donned a gorgeous Maggie Sottero bridal gown, while the bridesmaids wore beautiful mint dresses from Lulu. The flo-ral aisle runner directed your attention to the quaint columns filled with hydran-geas.

Erin and Taylor wrote their own wed-ding vows, and had several DIY elements. Erin’s favorite moment? The horse drawn carriage ride from the ceremony site to the reception.

Erin’s words of wisdom for future brides “As long as you are having an amazing time that’s all that matters. Don’t worry about anything else!”

What to Look For In A Wedding Photographer

Five areas that we feel are the most important to consider when choosing the right photographer

Page 9: Mark Dickinson Photography - Wedding Pricelist

Quality – Quality and artistic merit should be first in mind. You should fall in love with the photographer’s portfolio, and be able to feel the emotion within.

Personality - Meet with your photographer. No matter the type of session in which you are hiring a professional; you need to have a consultation with them beforehand. You should feel comfortable and relaxed with your photographer. If you don’t have a connection with them, it will show in your photos.

Reviews – Read reviews in depth. Word of mouth and prior customers will give you a better idea of the quality of the photographer. Do an online search; look them up on the Better Business Bureau, Google Reviews, Yelp, Yahoo Reviews, and ask your friends and family! Make sure that your photographer has a valid business license. (In the state of Florida you can look businesses up on www.Sunbiz.org or your local county website)

Price – Price is always going to be a contributing factor to your decision, but you shouldn’t let it be your sole decision maker. These photos are going to be a reflection of you, a memory that will last a lifetime. Make sure you are going to love the photos!

Packages – When discussing prices, take a close look at what is included in the pack-ages. A package is a typical selection of items that are best sellers. A Photographer will have several set packages, but if you would like more or less, you can often get a custom package to fit your needs. Some things to ask about your package:

• Are you getting a disk/drive/download of your images?• Are they full resolution files, or are they restricted to a smaller size?• Are prints included in the package?• If you want to buy more prints later, what are the prices A-La-Carte?• How long does the company keep your digital negatives?• Ask about the post processing that is included in the package. Generally a pho-

tographer’s portfolio consists of photos that have been retouched. There are dif-ferent levels of post processing; find out what all is included with your package, and what the cost would be if more extensive editing were required.

Volusia County travel included in each package. Travel outside of the county is done by round trip mileage rate of .71/mile. This includes time out during travel, package starts upon arrival on location. Travel over 200 miles requires additional travel charges such as 1-2 nights lodging.

Retainers and payments are required to hold the date. Verbal agreements must be written on paper or confirmed via e-mail in order to be verified. Pack-ages containing the Image Printing Licence are not permitted to be printed at Walmart, Walgreens, or other 1 hour non-professional labs. We value our image quality, which is affected when developing at printers with substandard printing techniques. We offer discounted print prices to offset this so that you can receive the compatible quality with the FX cameras.

We understand that things happen... If you are late to any session, you have three options: You may use the remaining time left, reschedule for a fee, or buy extra over time at an additional cost.

Booking Your Date – First thing’s first: we have to have your date available. You may call or e-mail us anytime to find out if we have a date available. Even if Mark is booked already, we have several associate photographers who can cover your event. Everyone at Mark Dickinson Photogra-phy uses all professional equipment, and have a similar style in photography. When you book your date, we will let you know which photographer(s) you will be work-ing with, so that you can make sure to de-velop a personal relationship with them.

Reservation Retainer – To hold your date, we require a retainer fee. For weddings a retainer of $500 (plus tax) is required to hold the date. This can be paid in cash, check, money order, or credit cards. 50% of the remaining balance is due 3 months prior to the wedding date. The remaining bal-ance is due 2 weeks before the wedding.

Agreement – If you are ready to sign the photography agreement during your consultation we will provide it for you. If needed, we will e-mail you the contract to fill out so that you can print it and mail it to us. When you fill out your contract, you will be choosing a portrait package. If you would like to upgrade your package at any time, it is easy to do so. We will create an addendum to your contract.

Get To Know You session-The GTKY ses-sion is a required complimentary session designed to better the working relation-ship with the couple and photographer. This is an imporant working consultation and part of the full wedding packages. The session should be scheduled 3 months be-fore your wedding date and 6 months if you plan to use photos for save the dates. Confirmation – When you schedule an engagement session (get to know you ses-sion), we will call to confirm the day before as well as on the day of your session. Dur-ing the week before your wedding, we will call you to confirm time, place, and any other pertinent information.

Gallery Completion- Weddings and large events take approximately 3 months to complete the post processing and upload-ing to MDPstore.com. Wedding galleries will stay online for 6 months.

Usb Drive of Images- If your package includes a usb drive of images, these will be delivered along with your completed wedding album.

Album Selection- Once your wedding gallery is uploaded, we will e-mail you a link to your online gallery as well as a pass-word. There you will be able to select your

Tara + Andy

When planning their wedding, Tara and Andy had no question in their minds that their ceremony would take place at the Church of Epiphany and the reception at Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA) due to the special meanings to both the bride and the groom.

Tara’s inspiration came from a wine cave that they had visited in France. Tara and Andy had several DIY items that included the rich purple hues of red wine. Tara in-corporated wine stained invitations and envelopes, framed chalkboards, and a hand made guest book. The place cards incorpo-rated a vintage French post-card look an-chored by wine corks. These personal ele-ments made her wedding day unique.

Even though their wedding was during a tropical storm, Tara and Andy were able to take some amazing photographs on the art center grounds. It was a truly spectacular day for everyone in attendance.

Lora + Michael

Lora and Michael were high school sweet-hearts who wanted their wedding to embody their sense of travel and adventure.

Bella Collina met all their criteria for a semi-outdoor ceremony location. The atrium was perfect in case of rain or direct sunlight. The entrance is lined with Tuscan inspired Cy-press trees and cobblestone roads. The roll-ing hills transform this Florida venue into an Italian getaway, a beautiful backdrop for their travel inspired theme.

For centerpieces Lora bought travel inspired home decor pieces to accent the tables. Planes, cars, bikes, hourglasses and globes graced each table along with florals and can-dles. Guest favors were leather luggage tags embossed with, “Some roads are not meant to be traveled alone.”

Lora’s words of wisdom for future brides: “Budget extra time for photos. The cocktail hour was a race for family photos. Trying to get everyone coordinated eats up a lot of time. I am thankful we budgeted extra time during dinner to sneak away for sunset pho-tos, and before our last dance for a few more starry sky photos. It also gave us time to breathe and enjoy each other.”

Plan Ahead for Your

FAMILY PORTRAITS

Page 35: Mark Dickinson Photography - Wedding Pricelist

•  For each family grouping, include the names of the people in the group, not just their relation to you. There may be 4 grandmas but only one “Grandma Betty.”

•  Start with the largest group first. Generally this is both the bride and groom’s immediate families.

•  Try to get all photos with young children and grandparents done first so that they may be released to enjoy the cocktail hour.

•  On your wedding day tell the family members on the list to stay close by after the ceremony, and listen for the photographer to call their name.

In order for your day to go smoothly and to get the most out of your time with the photographer, we suggest that you e-mail a photo list of family groupings. To make this easier for both you and your photographer, here are some quick tips and tricks for how to create your family portrait list.

Page 36: Mark Dickinson Photography - Wedding Pricelist

KEEP MEMENTOS TOGETHERHave the dress, shoes, rings, garter, bouquet, and any other mementos together before the wed-ding. This means purchasing a package with enough time for the photographer to come be-fore the wedding. When you give your photog-rapher time before your ceremony, you will get some amazing moments getting ready with your family and friends, and some awesome details of all the little things that you’ve spent so much time picking out and including in your special day.

OPT FOR THE “FIRST LOOK”So many couples are skipping the tradition where the bride and groom do not see each other be-fore the wedding. This small change may allow for more romantic photos, less stress, and more time after the ceremony!

KEEP IT CENTEREDIf you are having an outdoor wedding, or one where you are placing your own chairs, the aisle should be centered with where you will be stand-ing during the ceremony. This also means, when you get to the end of the aisle, make sure that you and your bridal party are centered as well.

10 Quick TipsFOR GETTING THE BEST PHOTOS

Page 37: Mark Dickinson Photography - Wedding Pricelist

LOOK UP AND SMILEDuring your processional and reces-sional, we recommend that you and your bridal party walk naturally and keep your focus on the end of the aisle. To get the best photos: keep the bouquet at waist height, keep your eyes up, and SMILE!

CONNECTIONDuring the ceremony, if tradition allows, hold hands and look at each other. We know that you are paying attention to what your officiant is saying, but we also want to make sure that you get roman-tic photos gazing into the eyes of the one that you are marrying.

ENJOY THE MOMENTTake your time putting the rings on, and make sure that your audience can see! As the photographer we will make sure to get the photo, but you want to make sure your family and all of your guests can see the ring exchange as well.

MOVE THE OFFICIANTBefore the ceremony, ask your officiant if they can move out of the center of the alter when they pronounce you husband and wife. This way there isn’t a person standing behind you in the photos of your first kiss.

KISS LONGER Think of how long you have waited for this moment and it is finally here! Take your time! Everyone wants to get a photo of the first kiss, so if you do a quick little peck on the lips, people might miss the kiss! Enjoy the moment!

FAMILY PORTRAITSThe family portraits after the ceremony can be very time consuming. To help keep things organized, have a list of your family member’s names in the group-ings that you would like photographed. To discourage distractions, please make sure no guests or family members take photos with their own cameras and cell phones. This way the photographer has everyone’s undivided attention.

DJ LASERSIf you have a DJ with strobes, lasers or disco lights, please request that these special lights are turned off during the first dances. We love weddings with lots of creative lighting, but if disco or laser lights are on during those special slow dances, you may have green and red spots all over you in your photos. Up lighting is welcomed by us, and does not adversely affect the first dance photos.
