As a history enthusiast I have spent many hours reading Virginia historical highway markers while sitting inside my car and in front of computer screens. Not always a relaxing, leisurely or safe way to read the markers. So I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if there was a picture book of all Virginia historical highway markers?” After some research, I found that there were no picture books of all Virginia historical highway markers.
So, I founded Markerhistory.com to make a picture book of all Virginia historical highway markers, with the intent of making them conveniently available to a wider audience. Two years, 37,000+ miles and ~ 2,500 markers later I have created the Virginia Historical Highway Marker Collection – a nine (9) volume series of regional pictorial guidebooks. Collectively, they provide the only complete pictorial guide to Virginia historical highway markers.
Virginia Marker History – Volume VIII is a guide to all the Virginia historical highway markers located in Southside Virginia.
I hope you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
