MARKET SYNOPSIS

f On Friday, NSE-NIFTY tried to surpass the psychological hurdle of 10,300 level after a firm start, but that efforts turned futile as the index surrendered intraday gain in the late trades and finally, closed the session near the day’s low of 10,212 mark, with the loss of 16 points.

f NSE Cash segment reported turnover of Rs25,975 crore as compared to Rs30,327 crore earlier.

f Overall market breadth remained negative, where 689 stocks advanced against 1100 declined stocks.

f Mixed trend was observed across all the sectoral indices during the day, where none of the sectoral indices has reported gain of more than 0.5%. However Metal and PSU Bank indices emerged as top losers with the decrease of 1.8% each.

NSE-NIFTY OUTLOOK

f NSE-NIFTY remained in pressure during the week, wherein the index gained once out of five trading sessions and reported fall of 2.2%. On the weekly chart, NIFTY has formed Bearish Belt Hold Pattern and closed below its 20-week moving average for the first time since 13th January, 2017, signaling further weakness in the index. On the lower side, major support is placed at the psychological level-10,000 for the index, which is also coinciding with its 50-week EMA. As mentioned earlier, our negative view will remain intact on NIFTY, where a pullback cannot be ruled out before the index resumes its southward journey. On the higher, NIFTY will face hurdles at 10,350 and then at 10,500 levels.

f As for the day, support is placed at around 10,180 and then at 10,130 levels, while resistance is observed at 10,300 and then at 10,350 levels.

f Jubilant Foodworks witnessed sharp decline from its life-time-high of Rs2,331 amidst higher level profit booking and later the stock reversed after taking support of its 50-day moving averages and rose to 6-week closing high.

f Due to recent turnaround in the stock, the major technical indicators turned bullish.

f As per the current daily set-up, we believe that the stock will soon resume its northward journey and will revisit its life-time-high.

f In case of decline, its 50-day moving averages will continue to work as key reversal point for the stock.

f Fresh long position can be initiated only in the range of Rs2050-2020 for the target of Rs2300 with a stop loss of Rs1955.

f Nifty opened higher on back of global cues but failed to cross the resistance levels of 10,300 and saw some profit booking in the second half to close near the day’s low. Nifty closed down by 16 points at 10,226 levels. Among the nifty stocks 22 stocks advanced and 28 declined during the day.

f Sectorally, it was a mixed bag with some recovery in IT, FMCG and Media to gain by 0.5%, 0.3% and 0.5% respectively while PSU Banks, Metals and Pharma declined by 1.5% average.

f Broader market indices remained under pressure with NIFTY 100,200 and 500 to close down by 0.2% average while midcap indices and small cap indices declined by 0.6% and by 0.2% respectively.

f Nifty March futures ends with 10 point discount at 10,216 mark, while on other hand, Bank Nifty March futures ended with the premium of 17 points at 24,313 mark.

f Nifty has seen some resistance from 10,300 levels and crossover of it will witness some positive momentum in broader markets. Nifty 10,000 PE has seen fresh addition of 4 lakhs shares moving the OI higher to 55 lakhs and it will act as strong support.

Sectoral Activity: Amongst sectoral index, FMCG and Media remained in focus with positive momentum.

Stock Activity: Kajaria and TV18 Broadcast have observed some amount of long build up in today’s trade.
