2. Direct Advertisement The Direct approach is the most conventional type of advertising and examples include trailers, TV and print adverts, web banners, yer etc. The key is to create a design that will attract your core target audience but more importantly that the advert will be seen by them - so you have to be precise which TV-station/website/magazine you choose to host your ad. WEB ADVERTISING Advertising on the web can be highly effective for many reasons. It can interactive and one click can take consumers to a point of purchase/download. Analytics can be used to get precise information about who is looking at your ad and/or looking at the website you placed it on TRAILERS Trailers can be used as TV adverts or can be uploaded to Youtube, enabling fans and press to embed the video to their site or share it wherever they like, to be honest, even if its to a bad criticism forum, at least its being watched and popular. The trailer should set the tone of the Coffee Run experience, it should be entertaining or, like in the case of Hitman Absolution, be controversial to ensure it is talked about for any reason. 3. INDIRECT ADVERTISEMENT Indirect Advertising is a bit trickier to get your head around - the best way to look at it is marketing that DOESNT explicitly target an audience DIRECTLY - it's a type of marketing isnt obvious in its sell and attracts the potential consumer by delivery other benets (information, entertainment etc). Best example is: the celebrity interview. The indirect advertising for Iron Man 3 would be Robert Downey Jr appearing on a chat show. The potential audience primarily tunes in to be entertained by the wiry Hollywood star and INDIRECTLY audience nd out that Iron Man 3 is out on that Friday and has best ght scenes Downey Jr has ever been in. Your problem is that very few games developers get asked onto Graham Norton. CREATE A RELATED MEDIA PRODUCT Its a long way around it but creating other media products that lead interest to your product can be incredibly successful. My T-Shirt designs could become more popular than the actual product they were soulfully designed to represent. 4. PROMOTIONAL ADVERTISING Promotions are usually short term strategies aimed to boost sales of a product. The most obvious type of promotion is the price cut which can entice consumers in believing that they are getting a bargain - but there are other ways of generate a spike in sales PRICE REDUCTION This is difcult in the app market as so many games use the Freemium model of business but could you offer your premium content at a lower price for a time? Perhaps its a smarter Idea to allow the first level to be free before charging users to unlock the rest of the game for a reduced price. SPECIAL OFFERS Everyone likes to feel special now and again so what could you do to make your audience believe theyre special: Free content - on the rst day of the release, and only on the day, consumers get to download the no-add, premium content of the game. Special editions - for an extra 50p you get downloadable wallpapers, a Ninja Rush poster and sticker. Download Coffee Rush and get a free coffee e-voucher!
