What is a story?

The definition of a story includes the interpretation of life events or scenarios that reflect the reality of human endeavors.

The importance of Stories

Stories connect us to one another and preserve our history and culture to the next generations.

Stories are powerful tools because they trigger powerful emotional responses.

Through stories we communicate the essence of what matters to us.

Storytelling in Marketing

Storytelling gives your products and services an identity.

Your story is a currency. It makes you relatable, accessible, and approachable — by sharing both the personal and the professional story.

Storytelling is not inventing a story…

Context, emotion and evidence

Don’t tell people they are wrong. Be empathetic and relatable.

Try to find the right metaphors.

Not all good content is storytelling. Good storytelling is about emotions, experiences, needs and how those feelings are evoked by you and your brand.

Think about how your brand was born, what inspired you to create the company and what your personal mission is. But most of all think about what the needs of the ‘audience’ were when doing so.

Your client or audience should be an important character in a journey where your brand is the supporting character that offers tools to help them to achieve successful resolutions.

Instead of presenting your story with a forgone conclusion, present as an unfolding journey that you are inviting people into. Stories must be personal.
