Sunday Evening Schedule – All grades (6th – 12th) meet together as one com-
bined group. We meet each Sunday evening from 5:00—7:00 pm.
Wednesday Evening Bible Study – Wednesday Night Supper is at 6:00 pm (reservation required) with Bible study in the youth room from 6:30-7:30 pm. We
will be exploring Paul’s letter to the church at Rome.
Podcasts – We are pleased to announce that all of our Sunday evening teaching series are available. If a student has to miss a Sunday for any reason, she or he will be able to listen during the week and be right on track the following Sunday evening. We chose to go with SoundCloud for our publishing platform, with both desktop and mobile app available for free. Once in SoundCloud, search “Ben Lee
Simplify,” to find and subscribe to our channel.
5K “Make A Difference” Road Race … It is time for our annual Road Race to support our student ministries! The race is set for Saturday, November 18th at 8:00 am at the church. There are many ways you can help us with this race. 1) Sign-up to participate—you can either run or walk the route! 2) We need sponsors for the race, if you can help us sign up sponsors or be a sponsor yourself that would be great. Forms for both the race registration and sponsor forms are in the church office. You can register online at welcometofirst.org and go to the 5K Road Race
page. See Ben Lee if you have further questions.
Fall Festival The Fall Festival is this Saturday, October 28th from 10 am to 12 pm. Invite your neighbors and your co-workers. Invite your family and friends. Be inviting! There will be lots of games for everyone to play. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the Fall Festival! Dress up as your favorite character and bring a friend. There will be lots of games, prizes, and (of course!) CANDY!!! We’ll also have Trunk-or-Treat in the back parking lot. Decorate your vehicle and maybe you
can win! The best decorated vehicle wins the prize!
Who will get the Pie? You decide! You get to choose who will get the pie by voting on who you would like to see get creamed. Choices are: Ken Morgan, Missy Blumenthal, Dana Smith, Ben Lee, Denise Andrews or Tracey Landreth. It will cost a $1 to vote ... Vote as many times as you like. Proceeds will go to Operation
Christmas Child.
Help Wanted! We need help with set-up, running the games, and with clean-up. No experience needed, just a willingness to help. Also, to help reduce cost, I am collecting 2-liter bottles of soda (any flavor) to be handed out as prizes for the
games. If you would like to make a donation or volunteer to help contact Tracey.

Marketplace @ First
Everyone is invited to participate in Marketplace @ First on Saturday, November 4th, from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Members and visitors at FUMC are making cookies, cakes, and turnip greens for the Taster’s Booth, cleaning out their garages for the Flea Market, putting the final touches on award winning recipes for the Chili Cook Off, making interesting theme baskets for the Silent Auction, and making crafts for the Vendor’s Booths. The Choir will sell baked goods and crafts. The Bridge will have a Consignment Sale for clothes. Georgia CHips will be here to register children’s fingerprints.
Money raised from this event will be used by United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men to support our ministries (Cheerful Cherubs, Soup Kitchen, Snax Sax, Youth events, Space Between) and community and SGC projects (Middle Ga Community Action Agency, Methodist Children's Home, Cherished Children, Heart of Ga Development Ministry, Family Promise).
Most important we need your help. Behind every successful event, there are dozens of volunteers that make it happen. On Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm we need help getting the tables set and everything ready. On Saturday, we need volunteers to help at the Taster's Booth and in the Silent Auction area.
We also need of the following items:
1. Food for the Taster's Booth - Do you have an item in the UMW cookbook? Or maybe you have a recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation. Consider cooking it and bringing it Saturday morning to the Taster's Booth. We want to fill the tables with lots of food!
2. Chili Cook-off Contestants - Do you make a great pot of chili that has every-one begging for more? Then enter the Chili Cook-off for your chance to win one of three prizes!
3. Silent Auction - We need items for the Silent Auction. Your Sunday School Class may want to create a themed basket.
4. Items for the Flea Market - If you have items for the flea market, there is still time. The flea market building is open on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon. Please make sure that the items you bring are clean and in working order. If you have items that are too heavy or too large for your vehicle, call Mark Phillips to arrange to have your items brought to the flea market building.
Marketplace @ First is a wonderful day of fund-raising, food, and fellowship. Please join us!
In Christ’s Service,
Sharon Waugh

in your 2018 pledge card… THANK YOU! If you have not brought or mailed your card in, don’t forget to turn it in as soon as possible. If you have not picked one up yet at the church, you can call Donald at 923-3737, ext. 104, or stop by and pick up a card. As we finalize plans for 2018, we need to know what resources the church will have to meet the needs of our church. Thank you for your faithfulness in seeing our church make a difference here and in our community.
