Karachi is the hub of different markets. Here in this presentation I will try to cover most of them. Different areas are famous for different things like Hyderi for food, Tariq Road for garments, Saddar for electronics, Empress Market for pets and animals, Lighthouse for used clothing and accessories, MA Jinnah Road for Sports related articles.

Karachi is a shopper’s heaven. There are all types of markets ranging from cheap to high-priced. The markets in Karachi facilitate each category of customers. There are markets of electronics , garments , fruits etc.

Markets

"Tariq ibn Ziyad Road"'or commonly known as Tariq Road is located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is one of the best shopping places of Karachi. In fact, it is the most famous and number one shopping centre, and people from almost all areas of Karachi come and buy from Tariq road.

There are approximately more than one thousand shops, including shops for jewellery, garments, cosmetics, food, computers, shoes, and showrooms. Tariq Road is located in the heart of Karachi, and is surrounded by one of the oldest localities of the city: PECHS. Tariq Road is most famous for its high-quality garments.

Tariq Road

Famous shops include Rabi Centre for fabrics. Besides fabrics, Tariq Road seems to be a thriving market for the footwear business with hundreds of shoe stores lining the road. The city's most popular stores namely, Metro Shoes, English Boot House and Sputnik Footwear, all have a presence on Tariq Road. English Boot House and Sputnik Footwear actually have two stores on this (very) long and vibrant road.

A mega project by the name of Dolmen Mall Tariq Road has been built in early 2000s and houses all major stores in the city as well as a food court, which encourages families to visit. There are shops and shopping plazas on both sides of the Tariq Road and many new shopping malls are under construction.

This is one of the best shopping malls and is a famous location for shoppers in Tariq Road. This is one of the less expensive malls of the city and is famous for housing famous international as well as national brands eg. Levis, Cambridge, Rado etc. It is equipped with all modern facilities and has underground floor also. Electric Stairs, elevators and a helping Customer Care makes it comfortable for new comers.

Dolmen Mall

Hyderi is a very famous market for food and garments. It is always bustling with shoppers. The main reason for a large crowd being present there is the vast number of affordable shops which are in reach to the middle income and poor.

Defence is a posh area and has considerably expensive shops. The Forum Mall and Ashiana malls are famous, they have a large variety of international brands but are out of reach from the poor. Another famous venue is The Agha Super Store. The Sunday Bazar is also famous for grocery etc. This is a popular shopping venue for the rich.

Gulistan-e-Jauhar is named after Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar.This locality has a huge market which is famous for housing a variety of things like garments, food etc. It has the highest number of Shopping Malls in an area in Karachi. Millenium Mall is the oldest and famous shopping centre which includes many brands. Now two new malls i.e Saima and Paari Mall. New mall are also under construction. Food is also famous here which includes KFC etc.

Gulistan-e-Jauhar

This Mall is the oldest Shopping Centre of the City and is affordable over many other malls. It houses many brands and has alot of variety in terms of cosmetics and clothing. The nearby Paari and Saima Malls house many local clothing and footwear manufactures which are affordable for the middle income people.

Millenium Mall

This is a market where traffic is bumper to bumper all day long. It is famous for electronics and consists of Zainab and Empress Market nearby which are also very famous. Saddar has a couple of shopping centre including Rex Centre which houses famous brands like Cross Roads, Levis and Stone age etc. Everything regarding electronics is available here including computers etc. which are available at competitive rates here.

Saddar

The hub of everything. Animals, birds, grocery, cages, garments and everything else is available in this market. This market has a very wide range of things available and is very affordable. Imported birds and fruits are a centre of attention for people. It traces its origins from the British Rule when it was built and named after the Empress.

Empress Market

A haven for cheap clothes in Karachi that are produced in the country for foreign brands like Nike, Adidas, Levis but are deemed sub-par before export. Huge leather/fur market next door as well. Cheap rates and a wide variety of products make it adhesive for the shoppers. This is a very inexpensive market of the city located in the Saddar Area where you can find anything relating to garments and other body wear accessories. This is a heaven for those who cannot afford the more expensive markets. In size the market is small as compared to other markets but it houses a large variety and quantity of garments.

Zainab Market

Regarded by most as the hub of software piracy. But for the people it is a blessing. All types of software( music, games, movies) are available here at very cheap prices but they are pirated. This market is also located in the Saddar vicinity.
