The greatest time of year is upon us. It is August, and the 126th edition of Colgate Football is preparing for another season. Season number 125 was a

memorable one. We captured our 8th Patriot League Championship, won 2 playoffs games on the road to advance to the National Quarterfinals, and finished the season ranked number 13 (what else?) in the nation. It was a special season and a special group of people

was a huge part of it. This special group was the Maroon Council. From expanding the recruiting budget, to hosting meals, to equipment and video upgrades, all the way to championship rings, the Maroon Council was vital in funding all that it takes to run a CHAMPIONSHIP program.

The Maroon Council is the benchmark for support groups, not just at Colgate, but nationwide. When I talk about this group

to other coaches, it is easy to tell that other institutions do not have a group as special and supportive as this one. With the support of Maroon Council last year, we were able to expand the football office suite, as well as purchase equipment that allows us to work safely on tackling while limiting player-to-player

contact. We were also able to purchase and maintain the alternate helmet, which was a huge boost for the team – both in the morale of the players, and as an impactful part of our recruiting efforts.

The world of college football is always changing; especially in the area of recruiting. We have become a national program and want to be able to get out and see the best of the best from all over the country. We want to be able to hit as many summer camps as possible in order to stay on top and bring in the quality student-athletes that this program

is known for. We also want to make sure we stay current with technology and facilities that continue to provide our players with a first-class experience. All of this is made possible through the Maroon Council. We could not have the program that we are able to run today without the support and generosity of all of you.

P lease join our team today and help keep the Maroon Council and Colgate Football strong. You can make your contribution by returning the enclosed response card, along with your check made payable to Colgate University, with Maroon Council in the

memo line. You can also make your gift online at http://colgate.edu/footballgift or by calling our gift line at 1-800-668-4428.

The Maroon Council is undefeated – they are champions every year! Join today and stay a part of this incredible family that is Colgate Football. Thank you and Go ‘gate!

Sincerely,

Dan Hunt Fred ’50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach
