Healthy Harold Visit On Tuesday 24th May the Life Education Van called in for a visit. Carinda and Hermidale Public Schools travelled over for the day. When not visiting Health Harold the students played team sports and learnt all about Kung Fu Punctuation. It was a fantastic day. Thank you to our parents for organising the bbq for us all and a huge thank you to the CWA ladies for providing us all with a fabulous morning tea. The Peasant Prince This term students have been reading the book The Peasant Prince he true story of Li Cunxin's extraordinary life. Based upon his internationally best-selling memoir, Mao's Last Dancer. On Friday 27th May we all travelled to Dubbo to see the Peasant Prince performance at the Dubbo Regional Theatre. Attached are the reviews of The Peasant Prince by Jet and Toby. Thank you to all the parents who gave up their EA days to attend the performance. It was worth it. Mongolia We have been busily learning about Mongolia – the CWA’s country of study. We have been learning about Genghis Khan and the Mongols. The students have also constructed a yurt using knowledge from our maths unit on 3D shapes. Reading Log Reminder Thank you to parents who have remembered to help fill in students Reading Log book and return each week. It is so important for children read regularly to an adult. Premier’s Sporting Challenge We have embarked on the Premier’s Sporting Challenge. This program aims to engage students and staff in sport and physical activity and encourage choices towards a healthier more active lifestyle. Students are required to log and record their personal physical; activities at school and at home or organised sporting activities. At the end of the challenge the school will receive sporting equipment –so lets get moving! CWA Public Speaking On Tuesday 31st May Jet and Toby travelled to Narromine to participate in the CWA public Speaking. Both students did an amazing job. Jet received an encouragement award for her speech on Family Matters and Toby had the audience laughing with his speech about If I could Be Someone Else.

Cystic Fibrosis Crazy Hair Day The school will be taking part in the Cystic Fibrosis Crazy Hair Day Friday the 17th June. The children are to come to school with crazy hair and wear red clothes. All to help raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis and the money they donate will be going towards research and services for people living with CF and their families. Cystic Fibrosis is Australia’s most common life-shortening genetic condition and an understanding of the condition is extremely loo so the focus of this campaign will be not only about raising funds but also educating the community about this complex condition. Assembly Our end of term Assembly will be on Tuesday the 21st June at 2pm. Community members are most welcome to attend.

Familymattersnotjusttopeoplebuttheanimalsinthefamilyaswell.Thefamilydog,thepetchook,themuchlovedbeardeddragonoreventhemilkingcow.Theymaybeanimportantpartoftheworkingteam,thehorseswhocarryusaroundalldaywhenmusteringandthedogsthathelpmovethecattletoo.

Thethingswedoasafamilymatter.Itmaybeafamilyholiday.Sharingtheadventure,catchingthetrain,busorferrystayingwitholdfriendsthathavebananatreesand1000’sofbabysnakesthatsnap!!!

Itcanbesomethingassimpleashavingapicnicatafavouritespotontheriverandeatingthefishwe’vecaughtthatdayormakingfamilytraditionslikeFrenchtoastonChristmasmorning.

Familymatters,remindsusofwhat’simportant,what’sworthfightingfor,whatmatterstothosearoundus.IamluckytohaveafamilywhomatterstomeandImattertothem.

IfIcouldbesomeoneelse.Haveyoueverwantedtobesomeoneelse?Ihave.IfIweresomeoneelseIwouldbeaToyotamechanicanddealerbecauseIloveToyotas.DidyouknowToyotashavebeeninmyfamilytraditionforyears?Everyoneinmyfamilyhasoneofsomedescription.PopandGranoncehadaPradoandtheymadeabigmistakebytradingitinforaFordRanger.Itturnedouttobeareallemon,soGranwentcarshoppingandcamebackwithanotherPradoandtheWholefamilywashappy.IwouldselleveryToyotathereis,likeaHilux,Ravs,Klugers,Prados,Travago,Camry,Landcrusiersandmore.IwouldliveinNynganwhichisalsowheremyshopwouldbewhichwouldbecalledJosephsToyota.IwouldalsodoupoldToyotastomakethemlookasgoodasnew.I’dfixToyotastoobutI’dmostlyspecialiseinV8Toyotas.Iwouldhaveagarageoutthebackwheretherewouldbeahoist,pitsandtoolsforworkingoncars.IwouldworkonnotonlyToyotasbutothercarsaswellbecausesadly,noteverybodyownsaToyota.MypersonalcarwouldbeaLandcrusierV8ute.Iwouldmodifyitsoitlooksgreat.It’dbejackedup,haveCoopertyres,aroofrack,tuffbarandsidesails,worklightsmountedoneachcorneroftheroofrack.I’dgofourwheeldrivingalotbecauseIlikeitbutI’dalsospendmostofmytimeatmyshop.IfIwassomeoneelseIwouldcareaboutmyemployeesandcustomers.IwouldhavegoodrelationshipswiththepeoplethatIgetpartsfrom.IfIwassomeoneelse,IwouldhaveagoodreputationandwouldbehonestandfriendlylikeIamnow.IwouldliketobethispersonandyouneverknowImightjustbethatpersononedayinthefuture.TobyJosephsYr5

The Peasant Prince LastFridaymyschoolwenttoaplayinDubbocalledthePeasantPrince.Itwasprettygoodwithalltheeffectsandbackgrounds.WewenttothePeasantPrincebecausewewerereadingthebookatschool.ThestorywasapicturebookadaptedfromthenovelwrittenbyLiCunxincalledMao’slastDancer.ThestorywassetinChinaandAmerica.Therewerethreeactorsandtheywereplayingtwentytwocharactersaltogether.OnehadtobejustLiCunxin,whowasthemaincharacterandhehadtoplayhimasanadultandalsoasachild.TheonlycharactersoftheotherthreeIrememberwas,thedad,themumandoneofhissevenbrothers.Theyhadtochangeintoalotofclothesandsometimessomeonehadtohelpthem.Theyhadaboxwithfabricatthebackofthebox.Aprojectorshoneabackgroundonthefabric.SomeofthebackgroundsIrememberareBeijing,newspapersandtheplane.Ididn’tmindit,butitwasabitdifferentfromthebook.Insomepartsitgotabitboringandinsomepartsitwasinteresting.IwouldrecommendittoafriendandIwouldgiveitthreestars.Myfavouritepartwaswhenhewasflyinghiskite.TobyJosephs

LastFridaywewenttoDubboTheatretowatchaplaycalledThePeasantPrince.WhenmymumandIgotthereeveryonewaswaitingforus.Thenwesawaladythattookusintoaroomwheretherewasaboardonthestage.Wewenttherebecausemyclassreadthebookatschool.Therewasfourpeopleacting,threeofthemplayed22characters.Iwasamazedbywhattheycoulddo.Theywereveryprofessional.Itwaslikeitwastherealthingbuttheywerejustactingsoitwasn’t.MyfavouritepartwaswhenLiwaspretendingtobeafrogtryingtogetoutofthewell.Theyalsomadeitabitdifferentthanthebook.Thespecialeffectswereverygood.Therewasaprojectoratthebackprojectingallthepicturesontothefabric.Theytoldusallabouttheprojectorandlotsmoreattheendwhenwecouldaskthemquestions.Whentheywerechangingintodifferentcharacters,theywereveryfastandquick.Ithoughttheplaywaslikethebookbutafewdifferentthings.Ilikethisplaybecauseitwasexcitingandfunnytowatch.IfIwasajudgeIwouldgiveit4andahalf-5stars.JetHall
