    Marriage and Children

There are 13 children in Fire Emblem Awakening, all of which can be unlocked as playable Characters via

marriage. The children can be acquired in Paralogues, or Side Missions, appearing after the corresponding

mother (or your main character, aka My Unit) gets married and you complete Chapter 13.

While characters of all sexes can be paired up, for two characters to get married in Fire Emblem's medieval

scenario, they must be of the opposite sex. Only certain mothers may have offspring (listed below). To make

a marriage happen, you must simply pair up characters on the battlefield repeatedly to improve their

relationship status. Once the relationship status reaches "S" rank, the characters will marry, if able.

Fire Emblem Awakening - 10 Tips for Surviving Fire Emblem

    13:50

    Feature

After marriage, you can recruit your pair's children in Paralogues on the world map. If you don't marry off

your characters, many of Fire Emblem Awakening's Paralogues (Side Quests) will not be available

    to play.

It should be noted that at any time two characters are married (reach the "S" rank) after chapter 13, their

corresponding child's Paralogue chapter will instantly appear on the world map. Therefore, with the exception

of Chrom, it is not necessary to reach an "S" rank with the potential parents before the completion of chapter

    13.

     Notes:

Both Chrom and the My Unit character have the ability to have two children, but a female My Unit can

have two children only if paired with Chrom.

All children are recruited at level 10

Children characters can reach "S" ranks as well (marry each other), but cannot have children, unless

    married to My Unit

All children begin with "C" rank support to both parents and any siblings (if applicable)

    Children's Classes, Stats and Skills

Children get their parents' last equipped skill (remember that you can rearrange skills using the "Equip Skills"

command, the lowest skill on the list is inherited) except for Chrom's children and Inigo - Chrom's daughters

get the "Aether " skill, and Chrom's sons get the "Rightful King" skill. Olivia's "Secret Dance" skill cannot be

passed to Inigo, as it is locked to the Dancer class. Make sure you carefully consider which skills you are

passing on. This allows for some creative customization by the player. For instance, if the mother can become

a Dark Flier, you should pass the Dark Flier's Lv15 skill "Galeforce" along. You could also potentially pass

"Astra" to a Taguel, both "Sol" and "Luna" to a Knight, or even "Lethality" to a Priest.

Skills are passed on to the child when the paralogue chapter is started , not when it appears on the map. Therefore, skill acquisition in the parents can continue after the "S" rank has been acheived as long as the

     paralogue has not been completed.

If a daughter's father is a male main character, Gaius, or Donnel, the daughter can become a Pegasus Knight.

If the daughter's father is Vaike, the daughter can become a Mercenary. The Mercenary class is extremely

useful (because of the "Armsthrift" skill and "Sol" skill). Therefore, you should consider carefully about the

spouses of My Unit, Gregor, and Donnel.

Children's available Classes are classes which either their father or mother can become (except for male-only

or female-only classes. The male-only or female-only classes are changed to corresponding sex-only classes).Additionally, any child produced from your My Unit character will have the ability to change to any class

    (excluding gender-specific classes).

Children's base stats and growth rates are the same as the mother, but they inherit the sum of both parents'

stat modifiers +1 (the green + numbers). Aesthetically, the children will always have the the hair color of the

    father (except Morgan).

    List of Children

The following graphic is an example of parental matching as to unlock all children available - these particular

pairings are not the only possibilities. See below for more info about each child.

    Parent: Chrom

    Class: Lord

Recruited: Automatically after completion of Chapter 13

WARNING: Chrom gets married after you complete Chapter 11, so develop a relationship early!

Due to Lucina's join time, it is recommended that you get any skills you wish Lucina to have on her parents

through the additional SpotPass, DLC, or Reeking Box grinding. Having a character with both Aether andGaleforce at LV10 (Ripe for promotion!) this early in the game is insane.

Chrom's possible wives are: My Unit Female, Sully, Maribelle, Sumia, and Olivia.

If you chose female MyUnit, Lucina can do everything. No, seriously, everything. Also, Morgan

becomes much stronger thanks to Rightful King access.

If you chose Sully, Lucina cannot become a Pegasus Knight. Therefore, Galeforce cannot be acquired.

However, there are plenty of dodge skills and firepower-support skills.

If you chose Maribelle, abandon Falchion and become a magic attacker.

If you chose Sumia, Lucina can be passed down Galeforce or acquire it on her own. Due to having

access to Aether already, it is not really worth going after any additional attack skills, as this pairing

grants a high enough skill for Aether to trigger about 1/4th of the time.

If you chose Olivia (which is hard), Lucina can be devastating with multiple high-activation

chance attack skills, and Inigo gains access to Rightful King Royal Weapon, increasing the chances of

his easy-to-get Sol activating. To ensure that you get Chrom to marry Olivia, make sure that Chrom

never builds a support relationship with any of his other possible wives, even if it is just one heart, andthen make Olivia Dance for him a few times in her joining chapter. Alternatively, if all other potential

marriages are spoken for, Chrom will marry Olivia.

    Parent: My Unit

    Class: Varies

Recruited: Paralogue 12; talk to with My Unit or Chrom

Morgan's gender is opposite from MyUnit's. Actually, MyUnit can become all classes except for sex-

exclusive classes, Manakete, Taguel, Dancer, Villager, and Fighter. If MyUnit's partner can become such

classes (except for Dancer and Lord), Morgan can become them (for example, female Morgan between maleMyUnit and Nowi can become a Manakete). If the parent is Chrom, Olivia or Lucina, then Morgan will join

as a Tactician with the Veteran skill as well as his/her inheritance.

One very important note is that Morgan can be the child of any character in the game - this includes units with

an S relationship with MyUnit after Chapter 13 such as Anna, Basilio, Flavia, or even Walhart and Aversa

(both of whom pass on exclusive skills). More importantly, MyUnit can marry "children" units (in this

case, Morgan can be someone's grandchild).

These options mean that Morgan is potentially the strongest character in the game, if you pair up your

    characters wisely.

Note: It is not  possible to utilize other "My Unit" characters in marriage, either through StreetPass or through

your Avatar Logbook, to create an army of Morgans or other MyUnit children. All characters recruited

through StreetPass, SpotPass, or your Avatar Logbook cannot engage in support conversations.

Morgan is a great choice for Dread Fighter/Bride.

Lucina as the Mother allows Chrom to be Morgans grandfather and Morgan will have acess to Aether,

Galeforce, Ignis and really good stats. If the Avatar marries a child character Morgan will inherit growths of

    not two but four characters.

    A good plan is to pass down Galeforce from a female Avatar to male Morgan;

Or Counter from a male Avatar to female Morgan.

Morgan's parents should be considered thoroughly. Great choices are:

Male Avatar and: Lucina, Cherche, Aversa, Flavia, Cordelia, Nowi, Olivia, Tiki, Anna, Nah

Female Avatar and: Chrom, Donnel, Walhart, Basilio, Owain, Inigo, Yarne, Gerome, Laurent

    Owain

    Parent: Lissa

Class: MyrmidonRecruited: Paralogue 5; talk to with Lissa or Chrom

While Lissa is a magic fighter/healer (unless you reclassed her to War Cleric, which will give Owain some

bonuses), Owain is Myrmidon. If his father is also a magic fighter, you should consider using a Second Seal

to change his class, although there is a DLC that will give him access to the Demon Fighter class, which uses

both Tomes and Swords; Lissa's high Magic makes him an ideal candidate.

Also, Lissa can become a Dark Flier. It is therefore possible for him to inherit Galeforce from Lissa, and an

offensive move from his father, such as Sol, Luna etc. It is unnessecary to pass down Astra as Owain can

easily obtain it on his own as a Swordmaster.

NOTE: If Owain talks to the Green-Unit NPC in the southern house in his joining chapter, he will gain his

own personal weapon, the Missiletainn. This is a very good sword for a character of his level, with a decent

attack power and an additional +1 to Skill, which is nice to have. This can help compensate for Lissa's lack

    of physical abilities.

    Parent: Sully

    Class: Knight

Recruited: Paralogue 8; talk to with Sully or Chrom

Sully's available classes are Cavalier, Myrmidon, and Wyvern Rider.

Important thing: Sully is a candidate for Chrom's wife.

If you choose Frederick/Stahl as Kjelle's father, no more classes are available for her; you should avoid this

pair unless you are certain that the available builds are what you want to go with. On the contrary, if you

choose Donnel, there are 7 basic classes available, 6 of which are based on weapon attacks, which makes

her capable of various situations. However, Donnel is extremely attractive for most "mothers", so don't jump

    in this pair without consideration.

Consider kellam as a father for kajelle. Sully and Kellam both give masiive defense bosts to their children

giving kejelle potentialy the highest defense in the game. Pass down Aegis to shave off magic damage, and

miricale from kellam, if you reclass him to preist. Let her claim renawal and luna on her own and she will be

an unbreakable wall capable of withstanding masive amounts of punishment.

Miriel is a typical magic fighter (strong magic, weak defense). Her husband should enhance Laurent's magic,

    Parent: Maribelle

    Class: Priest

Recruited: Paralogue 7; talk to with Maribelle or Chrom

Brady can get useful skills such as Luna, Renewal, Aegis, and Life Absorb. However, since Maribelle is a

healer, his defense may be weak.

Also, Maribelle has extremely high Luck, which is helpful when you use Armsthrift and Miracle.

In addition, Maribelle has the possibility to pass down Galeforce.

Brady is a potential son of Chrom, but Rightful King is mostly wasted on him, compared to Chrom's other

     potential children.

Although Taguels cannot be promoted using a Master Seal, there are some useful Second Seal classes that

can be utilized to help Yarne's initial skill set. For instance, a Taguel with both Lethality and Astra (from the

father) can be highly destructive. Alternatively, upon reaching the level cap of 30 for the Taguel race, it is

possible to use a Second Seal to reset Yarne to LV1 Taguel and keep his current stats, allowing for an infinite

loop until all of them are capped.

    Severa

    Parent: Cordelia

    Class: Mercenary

Recruited: Paralogue 10; assist her in reaching the villager Holland

Since Cordelia can become a Pegasus Knight, Mercenary, and Dark Mage, Severa is one of the most useful

characters in the game (she can be passed the coveted Galeforce skill). However, Cordelia lacks in attack

skills, so you should choose someone who has such skills as her husband (a good example would be Lon'qu

for Astra or MyUnit for any ability you please). Using a Second Seal and then turning Cordelia into a Dark

Knight will allow Severa to get Slow Burn, and since most battles don't last more than 15 turns, it's useful.

Note: Be careful when you acquire her; on higher difficulties, it is easy for her to be terminated. Use strong

units to take out enemies and clear the path for her. Also, use Rescue when necessary.

    Parent: NowiClass: Manakete

Recruited: Paralogue 16; talk to with Nowi or Chrom

Nah is a powerful and flexible character, just like her mother. Choose her father to specialize one side of her:

devastating firepower, or impregnable fortress. If her father is Donnel, and you pass down Aptitude, she

becomes nigh-unstoppable in any shape or form, due to insanely high growths. Although, a male MyUnit is

still the best option here. With MyUnit as her father she may reclass into almost any class. One of which

includes the Dark Flier class which gives Nah access to Galeforce.

At level 30, if a Second Seal is used, not only can she revert back to a level 1 Manakete, she can also switch

to a level 1 advanced class (e.g. - Assassin) that is available to her. The same is true for any Manakete or

    Taguel class.

We must note that Sumia's candidate husbands are a few, but include Chrom. Other candidates are male

MyUnit, Frederick, Gaius, and Henry. There are slim choices, so choose her companion as soon as possible.

Cynthia is arguably one of the more powerful children, having access to Galeforce and Aether, just like

Lucina if you pair Sumia with Chrom.

If you choose Henry, pass down Venegeance or Lifetaker.

If you choose Gaius, pass down Lethality.

If you choose Frederick, pass down Luna.

    Inigo

    Parent: Olivia

    Class: Mercenary

Recruited: Paralogue 6: talk to with Olivia or Chrom

Olivia is the Dancer , but Inigo cannot become a Dancer. However, his Mercenary class is extremely useful

for many purposes. Before you acquire him, you should have Olivia get Galeforce so she can pass it on to

him. Alternatively, have her pass down Astra (from the Swordmaster branch) or Luck+4 if you are too lazy

    Inigo devastating.

If Lon'qu is the father, pass down Astra or Lethality.

Be warned, Paralogue 6 is perhaps the most difficult child recruitment chapter. Bring plenty of armor-busters

and an Archer or two, and make sure to feed Inigo some kills for some sweet extra gear at the end.

    Gerome

    Parent: Cherche

    Class: Wyvern Rider

Recruited: Paralogue 11; talk to with Cherche or Chrom

Cherche has high Strength, so enhance Gerome's Strength to inflict lethal damage to enemies. He also has

some of the highest growths in the game, and becomes insanely good if granted access to Aptitude through

    Donnel.

Gerome benefits well from breaker skills, so pass down Bowbreaker if you choose Virion.

    Parent: Tharja

    Class: Archer

Recruited: Paralogue 15; joins automatically on turn 2

Noire can learn various attack and defense skills on her own.

But remember: Tharja's Luck status is weak. Be careful for enemies' critical hits! You can counter this by

pairing her with Libra or Donnel.

If you choose Libra as the father, choose to pass either the Vengeance (from Tharja) or Renewal

(from Libra) skill to Noire, not both. Vengeance does more damage based on how much HP you've

lost, but Renewal will heal you each turn, making Vengeance less effective.

sorry but "one of the better Zelda titles"?

No, it's not a bad game, but it doesn't match up to any of the other

    Someone said AoL was hardcore.

IDK, I feel OoT was pretty good, but really easy and VERY simple instory. MM had a much more complex story, and I loved practically

Well, you are completely nuts :p

I found MC VERY boring. As for 2D console games, I put ALttP andTLoZ together, but I like AoL more because of it's challenge and

    uniqueness in the series.

As for console games, how did you like TP so much? It had the worst

start I've ever seen in a game. I felt Superman 64 started out more

fun. At least I could laugh at it (yes, I own the game). TP just dragged

on. I got to the Water Dungeon before I just had to give up. Also, how

is MM your least favorite? It had such a great style of story telling, and

    strong characters!

    • •

    blankslate99  •

I actually thought that the slow opening of TP had more of an impact

on the narrative because you actually knew what the characters were

like before things went to hell. That's one of the reasons why I don't

like OoT that much - it expected you to care about Saria and other

characters for absolutely no reason. As for MM, I really really like the

tone, characters, and sidequests...but the dungeon design wasamong the worst in a 3D Zelda game (the water temple definitely

comes to mind here). That and the 3-day mechanic of repeating steps

over and over again if you didn't accomplish what you wanted to in the

3 days. And as for Minish Cap, I thought the overworld was pretty

freaking boring, but there were some awesome dungeons and

    bosses.

Oh, and I think A Link to the Past is just a tiny bit higher than the

original Legend of Zelda probably because it has a lot more direction

(this coming from a guy who spent months trying to beat the original

    without a guide)

I never use a guide for anything, and I beat the original in a few weeks

    :p

OoT was lacking in character development, but TP was just too slow.

I didn't mean slow as in cutscenes or plot. I mean the gameplay was

awful and uneventful. I got to the water temple and just gave up there.

    • •

    blankslate99  •

how'd you figure out the bush-burning? lol

Anyways, I don't really get what you mean but ok hahaha

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

Pure luck. I have a lot of complaints with the first game, as fun as it

    was.

I meant was that TP was just forcing you to do dull tasks. I was thrilled

when I got out of that village after an hour, but then I'm a wolf with the

sloppiest attacks, then I have to find a bunch of light balls, then I have

to do a really easy and dull dungeon, then more light balls, then

another easy dungeon, then more light balls, then a confusing

dungeon, then I quit. I've heard it gets way better after the Water

Temple, but so far I've only enjoyed myself in the cutscenes. The rest

of the game has been awful.

    • •

    devinci99  •

Though not exactly the same, but in OoT, on re-play through on 3DS, I

got to the water temple and never played it again.... I remember how

much I hated it when I played it before. I just couldn't go back. I gotta

force myself to, because the after that was really fun.

Is the water temple a common dungeon people seem to hate?

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

In OoT it is heavily hated, but I actually found it to be my second

    favorite dungeon in the game.

    • •

    devinci99  •

wish i had a friend near by who loves that dungeon, so I can pass my

3DS over and have that person complete it for me, then pass it back.

OOT was one of Nintendo's early attempts at story driven gaming.

They made steady improvements. From a literary perspective, WW

was much improved over Mm and OoT and SS and TP were even

better, with Link having real personal and pathetic motivation.

    • •

    snesnostalgia   •

I know this is two months late but spirit tracks was horrible and the

worst handheld Zelda. You have horrendous taste or you're a 2 year

    old!!!

    • •

    Aedopliclus  •

I can't believe you didn't like Majora's mask or Ocarina!! For mostpeople it's always a toss up between the two.

    • •

    Chief-Forerunner   •

oh... you are one of those Majora's Mask people who think it is better

than OoT. It was delightfully dark, but cannot match the revolutionary

OoT, which started off the console Zelda's.

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

OoT was revolutionairy, but Majora's Mask had a way more emotional

story and better designed areas (most of OoT's areas are kind of

    simple and bland.)

I feel they are very close games, but I like MM just slightly better.

    • •

Chief-Forerunner   • 3 day cycle killed it for me big time. I can't stand those kind of things in

    a game.

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

I hated how that made me feel rushed in dungeons, but other than that

    I was fine.

    The-Beninator   •

Even with slowed time I was still a bit rushed. Any time limit at all has

    a psychological effect on me.

    • •

    theBangofett  •

so you ve never played a Mario game?

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

No, I have. Most of the older Mario games had straight paths, so I

didn't need to explore, knew where to go, and didn't feel rushed. The

best Mario games, IMO, were the ones with big open worlds and no

time limits. I've not really been a fan of any of the ones to have come

    out after the first Galaxy.

    • •

    Supermax64  •

OoT was revolutionary, doesn't mean its successor can't be an

evolution over it in terms of story and gameplay.

    • •

    TorinLD  •

Personally though, I didn't find MM evolved from OoT much in the

gameplay department. It had the masks, which were cool, but the

minor ones felt well..... very minor, and the transformation mask forms

didn't feel as polished to me as regular Link, and a lot (let's face it,

most) of the assets were re-used from OoT. I think MM is probably a

better experience, but I call OoT the better game because of how

innovative and revolutionary it was for the industry.

    • •

    Supermax64  •

Well the reason I love it personally is because of all the sidequests.

    • •

    theBangofett  •

who cares if a game is revolutionary? if a games more fun than the

other what matters? being revolutionary or more fun?

Jeeze, this goes far back! I've since finished TP, and, I couldn't

believe how much better it got. I started to have fun about halfway

through the Water Temple, and the rest of the game, minus the City in

the Sky, was amazing! It just had the worst beginning I've ever seen in

    a video game.

    • •

    Aedopliclus  •

Definitely one of the slowest and most tedious beginnings I've ever

played. It's quite a while before you're given an opportunity to just

explore and sight see. I love how Zelda games such as Majora's

Mask, A link between worlds, A link to the past, and even arguably

Ocarina pretty much just throw you into the action.

    • •

GreyLightning  • I just wish it had a proper sequel to it. Wind Waker in my mind just

didn't cut it. It seemed to me that when they turned Zelda into 3D it lost

its charm for me. The Game Boy, Game Boy Color and GBA sequels

were far superior in my mind because they stayed true to the original

format. Hell even the DS sequels tried to maintain that tradition better

    than the Wii's did.

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

I don't care if it's similar. I care if it's fun. Zelda is just a puzzle based

adventure, with good story telling in the 3D games. I guess that's why I

    generally liked them more.

    • •

    Supermax64  •

Your list started well but lost any credibility when you listed PH as

anything else than the worst Zelda game ever.

    • •

    The-Beninator   •

It's the game that got me into Zelda, and it's way better than TP and

    MC with my bias aside.

    • •

    Supermax64  •

Let's just agree to disagree cause PH is the only Zelda I actually hate

(never tried Spirit Tracks cause it looks similar). At least it got you into

    Zelda which is good news.
