The diameter of Mars is 6786 km and it is 227.9 million km from the Sun.
One day on Mars is 24 hours and 40 mins.
It is known as the Red planet and it gets its colour from iron oxide or rust.
An asteroid belt with around 100 000 asteroids, orbits between Mars and Jupiter.

Mars is the planet most similar to our but it still couldn’t support life.
The air on Mars is not breathable as it consist of mainly carbon dioxide and some water vapour.
Mars has two Moons Deimos and Phobos.
The moon Phobos will eventually collide with Mars.
Mars and Earth
Mars has the largest volcano in the solar System.
The month March is named after Mars.
Like Earth, Mars has polar ice caps at the North and South poles and also has seasons.
The first space craft visited Mars in 1965 and was called the Mariner 4.
