Friends of Wetlands announces Marsh Madness, a special wetland celebration this winter. A combination of theater and science, we are featuring a presentation by Wil Reding the ramblin' naturalist. He will inspire and delight with his unique character the ‘Marsh Mallow Man’. Music with a distinquished environmental bent will be provided by Tim Wallace. Tim has be a major contributor to the folk art scene in Northeast Ohio for decades. His cartoons and designs have adorned many issues of the FOWL Newsletter. He may be best known for work with the local musical group, The Smokin’ Fez Monkeys . In recognition of International Wetlands Day, Marsh Madness will be on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 6 - 10pm at the Sachsenheim Hall, 7001 Denison Ave. on Cleveland’s near west side. This mid-winter date is perfect for FOWL to present its spring agenda and training for the Marsh Monitoring Programs. FOWL will also be publicly announcing an ambitious initiative at that time. You won’t want to miss it. Early bird registration for Marsh Madness, before January 27th, is $25. Regular registration is $30. Your registration includes a one year membership in Friends of Wetlands, a $20 value. Complimentary vegetarian appetizers will be provided. Cash bar and menu will be available from the Hall. The Redings retraced John Muir’s Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf. John began his walk to the Gulf in 1867, two years after the Civil War, starting at Indianapolis IN and ending at Cedar Key, FL. The Redings, using his journals, Civil War maps and lots of other research, set out on May 5th, 2006 and completed their retracing walk in 53 days on June 25, 2006.
