TODAY WILL BE D IFFERENT

DO YOU WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT?

Not everyone thrives in complex, volatile environments. Rigorous screening identifies Marines who do. If you meet the minimum requirements and have the drive to excel, contact a MARSOC recruiter.

Assessment and Selection Preparatory & Orientation Course (ASPOC)This required course enhances a Marine’s physical ability, confidence, and situational awareness. Marines learn about MARSOC’s mission and the commitment to excellence required. ASPOC completion does not guarantee selection.

Assessment & Selection (A&S) A&S is a mentally and physically challenging evaluation that enables MARSOC to identify Marines that have attributes compatible with special operations missions and the MARSOC way of life. A&S is highly competitive.

Individual Training Course (ITC) Marines selected for assignment as Critical Skills Operators or Special Operations Officers attend ITC, which builds multidimensional operators capable of operating across the full spectrum of special operations, and aware of the strategic context in which they operate.

WE ARE

MARINES

Honor. Courage. Commitment. An unconquerable spirit. MARSOC Marines are Marines first, but as members of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), they take on unique missions.

MARSOC deploys skilled teams of combat athletes to execute complex distributed operations anywhere, anytime. These highly adaptable units may work independently or with other agencies and military organizations.

Marines are our nation’s rapid response force, used to doing more with less. MARSOC Marines build on their Corps heritage as agile expeditionary warfighters. They strengthen USSOCOM’s ability to conduct full-spectrum special operations worldwide.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS CAPABILITIES SPECIALIST

Special Operations Capabilities Specialists (SOCS) are Combat Support Marines that are able to join MARSOC based upon their MOS skill and receive advanced special operations forces training and certification. SOCSs are operational and tactical force multipliers and frequently deploy alongside CSOs. SOCS billet fields include Intelligence, Communications, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Dog Handlers, and Fire-Control Specialists. SOCSs are awarded the AMOS of 8071, and return to the operating forces after an extended tour of service with MARSOC.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMBAT SERVICE SPECIALIST

Special Operations Combat Service Specialists

(SOCS-Ss) are Combat Service Support Marines who serve one standard tour with MARSOC in their primary MOS, such as Motor Transport or Logistics.

Their training includes core skills for joint and interagency work as well as enhanced SOF combat skills training to enable their successful integration and survivability in special operations environments.

Our numbers are few:

• 3 battalions

• 3-4 companies per battalion

• 3-4 teams per company

• 12 Marines and 2 corpsmen per team

• Select number of enablers and supporters

MARSOC Marines quickly assess complicated

situations and make intelligent decisions of

tactical, operational, and strategic importance.

MARSOC teams are small, so each individual

must be strong, mentally agile, dependable, and

adaptable. Every role is critical, so team cohesion

and expertise are key.

MARSOC engages in foreign internal defense, but also in direct action, special reconnaissance, counterterrorism, counterinsurgency, security force assistance, and preparation of the environment. MARSOC Marines operate beyond the front lines and have a unique battlefield perspective. MARSOC training is intense and specialized; it hones Marines’ natural abilities and gives them the expertise to win the 21st century’s unconventional conflicts. Diverse cultural understanding and language capabilities ensure MARSOC Marines can operate in every clime and place.

CRITICAL SKILLS OPERATOR

Critical Skills Operators (CSOs) and Special Operations Officers (SOOs) are assigned to billets at the team, company, and battalion levels. Enlisted Marines are designated CSOs and awarded the 0372 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) while officers are awarded the Additional Military Occupational Skill (AMOS) of 0370. CSOs can stay in the fight with MARSOC for the duration of their Marine Corps career.
