What can you do?‘Growth and Growing’ topic• Look at baby photographs with your child and talk

about how they have changed. What can they do now that they could not when they were a baby?

• Look at different plants and flowers when you are out and about. Talk about how they grow and how you can help to look after them.

• Allow children to help with gardening and also with recycling.

Transition to Reception

‘What we will do• Reception children will visit the setting to talk to the

children about how wonderful Reception is• Reception staff will visit Nursery to get to know the

children and to help the children to become familiar with them

• Begin some Reception routines (snack time, assembly)• Visits to new classrooms with peers• Stay for dinner• Individualised support for children not attending our

setting

Transition to Reception

What can you do?• Talk about moving to Reception in a POSITIVE way • Address your child’s anxieties, share these with staff

members• Talk about school and Reception during the summer

break. Try on uniform, look at book bag, countdown the days until school starts.

Literacy - Writing
