Philosophy

The Martha Puckett Middle School Media Center existsto serve the educational needs of the students, theteachers, and the administration of the school. Thestudents are the primary users of the Media Center and

their needs will be met through providing materials andservices to support their school curriculum, their socialdevelopment, and their recreational development.

This Media Center endorses the mission statement for amiddle school: ³A place where a transitional program is

provided that meets the developmental needs of itsstudents, and make the experience meaningful, exciting,non-threatening, and successful.´

100% would enjoy a larger teacher¶s workroom in themedia center 

67% would begin to use literature circles and/or beginbook clubs if there were a better area for students tomeet

67% would use the media center more often it there wasanother computer lab available

Areas of change include: another computer lab, larger equipment room with portable V players, projectors,and lap tops, larger selection of books and magazines,theater area for presentations, and a teacher workroomthat was ONLY for teachers with another copier.

Procedures

The Media center shall be opened eachday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

I would change the time from 7:30 a.m. to4:30 p.m. to give any students time tocomplete projects in the computer lab or for checkouts.
