Lowland Rainforest The white gutta tree can grow up to a height of 45m. It has been described as a tree that changed the world, for its latex enabled the insulation of underwater telegraph cables, which made long-distance instant communication possible. Keppel Discovery Wetlands The marsh pulai is commonly found in freshwater swamp forests. It grows up to 25m in height and has a trunk that is fluted at the base. SPH Walk of Giants This slow-growing ferruginea fan palm takes about 10 years to get to its current size. Its size at the Learning Forest today is testament to how well the forest is regenerating. The Learning Forest in numbers species of rainforest trees Holttum’s hybrid orchid at the Botanists’ Boardwalk is named after former Gardens director Eric Holttum. Holttum pioneered the orchid breeding programme at the Gardens.
