ST. VINCENT DEPAUL NEWS…

Thank you…your generosity in donating Easter basket supplies allowed us to make 108 baskets that were distributed to our clients, the children in the Oncology ward at St. Peter’s hospital, and clients of our Diocesan food pantry in Perth Amboy. Your kindness put a smile on many little faces! We were privileged to assist the Living Stones ministry of our parish with the Friendship Meal held on Saturday, March 30th. Due to their hard work, the dinner was a huge success! Charity Basketball Game… Come out and join us on Monday, April 16th for a fun night at the annual John J Wojcik Charity Basketball Game between Sayreville's Police and Fire departments. All proceeds go directly to our parish St. Vincent DePaul Conference. It’s always a great game when these teams are on the court! First Communion Project: Please consider a cash donation for needy children in Perth Amboy churches who need dresses, veils, suits, rosaries and other First Communion Accessories. Help them make their First Communion with pride and thankful hearts. Donations are needed by April 20th.

7th Annual Friendship Meal 2012

was a Great Success The Living Stones of OLV served a fabulous meal to a very happy and lively capacity crowd on Saturday March 31 in addition to the deliveries made to our homebound of the parish and those who came for pick ups. The Committee is very grateful for the generous outpouring of donations and volunteers from the Parish and beyond who helped. Due to the generosity of so many, God multiplied our blessings again so that we were able to give the surplus to St. Vincent DePaul Society to continue to give to those in need. Our sincere gratitude is extended to the following for their generosity: Andy Gnapp, our amazing chef (Yams ala Andy and Green Bean Casserole were such a hit!), and his flock of very proficient K of C kitchen helpers who cooked the food and cleaned up. Thanks also to the delivery crew who were right on schedule! We extend a very special thank you to Grand Knight David Gnapp and our Knights of Columbus Council #2061 for their great support in so many ways including the use of their kitchen to prepare the food and even donations from the K of C Pool League. Thanks also to Assembly 0670 K of C, the Columbiettes and OLV Seniors Club for monetary donations; to the Girl Scouts for coloring the crate of eggs donated by Rt. 9 Farmer’s Market and boiled by the faithful volunteers, to Quick Chek for the chocolate chip cookie dough (we baked 252 cookies to serve!), to Maier-Stroehman for 600 dinner rolls, to Maureen’s Candies for the chocolate pops, and all the others who contributed with various supplies and food items. Most especially we thank you, the Parishioners of OLV -- thanks for being such good Stewards and helping us to bring a little joy to others – and having so much fun doing it! Your donations of time, talent and treasure made a positive difference in many lives again this year. May God bless all the Living Stones Parishioners of OLV. Happy Easter! – Friendship Meal Committee
