Collect The Mercy of God (adapted)
When this hymn is concluded, the Priest, with hands joined, says:
Let us pray. (Pause)With hands extended, he continues:
O God,
whose mercies are without number
and whose treasure of goodness is infinite,
graciously increase the faith
of the people consecrated to you
that all may grasp and rightly understand,
by whose love they have been created,
through whose Blood they have been redeemed,
and by whose Spirit they have been reborn.
To your faithful who suffer from various calamities,
grant a spirit of patience and charity, that, in spite of difficulty
they may be found true and faithful witnesses
to the promises you have made.
To those who have passed from this world,
in your mercy, grant eternal happiness with you,
that on the last day we may be together, with you,
in the company of all your saints.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
PEOPLE: Amen.Commentator: Please be seated and let us listen to the Word of God.
Prayer over the Offerings The Mercy of God
Then the Priest, with hands extended, says the Prayer over the Offerings:
Receive our oblations in your mercy, O Lord,
and transform them into the Sacrament of redemption,
the memorial of your Son’s Death and Resurrection,
so that, by the power of this sacrifice
and with constant trust in Christ,
we may come to eternal life.
Through Christ our Lord.
PEOPLE: Amen.
Preface Eucharistic Prayer for Use in Masses For Various Needs IV
Jesus, Who Went About Doing Good
PRESIDER: The Lord be with you.
PEOPLE: And with your spirit.
PRESIDER: Lift up your hearts.
PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord.
PRESIDER: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
PEOPLE: It is right and just.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Father of mercies and faithful God.
For you have given us Jesus Christ, your Son,
as our Lord and Redeemer.
He always showed compassion
for children and for the poor,
for the sick and for sinners,
and he became a neighbor
to the oppressed and the afflicted.
By word and deed he announced to the world
that you are our Father
and that you care for all your sons and daughters.
And so, with all the Angels and Saints,
we exalt and bless your name
and sing the hymn of your glory,
as without end we acclaim: Holy, holy, holy…
Prayer after Communion The Mercy of God
Then the Priest, with hands extended, says the Prayer after Communion:
Let us pray. ( pause)
Grant to us, O merciful God,
that, nourished by the Body and Blood of your Son,
we may draw confidently from the wellsprings of mercy
and show ourselves more compassionate
towards our brothers and sisters.
Through Christ our Lord.
PEOPLE: Amen.
