We consciously recall the love of God poured out for us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At each Mass all the intentions of all God’s people, both living and dead, are included. Envelopes are placed at the entrance of the church. If you need a specific date please let us know at least one month in advance. ATTENTION: COORDINATORS OF VARIOUS MINISTRIES IN OUR PARISH: Through the revised Responsible Faith Ministry Manual of the Dioceses of St. Catherines, updated and published on September 7, 2017, requests that any volunteer who is involved with children’s programs and visiting vulnerable adults must undergo a screening process and obtain a Police Clearance Certificate. This is to protect not only the children and vulnerable adults but also the volunteers & workers. No coordinators of events shall seek the help of a person or persons who has not completed these procedures. If some one approaches you wanting to help, please do not allow them to be a part of the event unless you verify with me or the Secretary of the parish. Even if you know someone has completed the process, still they should not be allowed to be a part of the event without the Pastor’s permission. Only parents of the children and teachers will be allowed to be a part of the youth program and youth activities, as coordinators, helpers or chaperones. Members of the Faith Ministry team are Pam Tempeny (Coordinator), Glenna Dulmage, Laurie Rykse, Margaret Kielbowich & Shelley Dulmage. Those who wish to volunteer will be asked to get a Police Clearance Certificate from the OPP office in Cayuga. Together with the application form, a letter from the Pastor as well as two pieces of government issued identification is required to apply for it. Police checks will be mailed to the applicant. No fee for the police check for volunteers. Pam will be contacting you soon. Thanks for your cooperation. LEARN FROM EAGLE: Seven Principles of an eagle to live by (1) Eagles fly alone and at high altitudes. They don’t fly with sparrows or other small birds. Stay away from sparrows and ravens, those that bring you down. Eagles fly with Eagles. Keep good company. (2) Eagles have accurate vision. They have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it. Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed. (3) Eagles do not eat dead things. They feed only on fresh prey. Do not rely on your past success. Keep looking for new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past. (4) Eagles love the storm. When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. The eagle uses the storm’s wind to lift it higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagle uses the raging storm to lift him above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees. Face your challenges knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges rather they relish them and use them profitably. (5) Eagles test the commitments of the partner. When a female eagle meets a male and they want to mate, she flies down to earth with the male pursing her and she picks a twig. She flies back into the air with the male pursuing her. Once she has reached a height high enough for her, she lets the twig fall to the ground and watches it as it falls. The male chases after the twig. The faster it falls, the faster he chases until he reaches it and has to catch it before it falls to the ground, then bring it back to the female eagle. The female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a much higher altitude, and then drops the twig for the male to chase. This goes on for hours, with the height increasing until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of picking the twig which shows commitment, then and only then, will she allow him to mate with her! Whether in private life or in business, one should test commitment of people intended for partnership. (6) Eagles prepare for training. They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young get uncomfortable in preparation for flying. Leave your comfort zone, there is no growth in it. (7) Rebirth of an Eagle: When the Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out. [It is a myth and not true, but let us take the lesson] We occasionally need to shed off old habits, things that burden us, or add no value to our lives. “But those who wait on The Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” SWEET REVENGE: A poor young boy was in love with a rich man’s daughter. One day, the boy proposed to her, and the girl said, “Your monthly salary is equivalent to my daily expenses. How can I be involved with you?” She went on, “How could you have thought of that? I can never love you, so forget about me and get engaged to someone else of your level.” But for some reason, the young boy could not forget her so easily. Roughly 10 years later, they stumbled into each other in a shopping mall. She immediately said, “Hey, you! How are you? Now I’m married, and do you know how much my husband’s salary is? $15,700 per month! Can you beat that? And he is also very smart.” The man’s eyes became wet with tears on hearing those words from the woman he used to care for. A few seconds later, her husband came around. But before the woman could say a word, her husband saw the man and said, “Sir, you’re here! And you’ve met my wife!” Then he turned to his wife, “This is my boss who runs the $100 million project I’ve been working on! And if you want to know something strange about him, he once loved a lady but he couldn’t win her heart. That’s why he has remained unmarried since.” He went on, “How lucky would that lady have been if she had married this man right here?” The lady looked in total shock but couldn’t utter a word. Life is very short and just like a mirror. We can only see as much as it reflects. So don’t be too arrogant or proud by looking down on others because of their current situations. Things can change with time, just like the weather. Don’t underestimate anyone, because everyone has a different story. *Teacher: "Kids, what does the chicken give you?" Student: "Meat!" Teacher: "Very good! Now what does the pig give you?" Student: "Bacon!" Teacher: "Great! And what does the fat cow give you?" Student: "Homework!" *My friend thinks he is smart. He told me an onion is the only food that makes you cry, so I threw a coconut at his face. * Q: Is Google male or female? A: Female, because it doesn't let you finish a sentence before making a suggestion. *A teacher asked her students to use the word "beans" in a sentence. "My father grows beans," said one girl. "My mother cooks beans," said a boy. A third student spoke up, "We are all human beans." *Q: Why was six scared of seven? A: Because seven "ate" nine. *A boy asks his father, "Dad, are bugs good to eat?" "That's disgusting. Don't talk about things like that over dinner," the dad replies. After dinner the father asks, "Now, son, what did you want to ask me?" "Oh, nothing," the boy says. There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone." *Q: What starts with E, ends with E, and has only 1 letter in it? A: Envelope. *Math Teacher: "If I have 5 bottles in one hand and 6 in the other hand, what do I have?" Student: "A drinking problem." HELP NEEDED: YOUTH FUNDRAISER “SUPER SOUPER: If you are able to make Soups and/or Chili for this fundraiser for our parish & school children please sign up or email Shelley Dulmage, Youth Director [email protected].
