For over 28 years Saint Vincent Marty School has been well served by our school secretary, Mary Brooks. The hallmark of Mary's work has been her extraordinary hospitality, greeting all who come through our doors with a bright smile and a warm word of welcome. Mary adds a brightness to our school community coloring its world with pastel tints of genuine concern for our children and their families. Upon meeting Mary there can be no doubt that our school is Catholic as her strong faith in Jesus shines through all she says and does. I can't begin to describe the various tasks that she has embraced in her role as secretary. Among them all is one which could be described as the jewel in the crown of her service - her one-of-a-kind tours of SVMS. From the moment she engages prospective parents of future students she draws them into a charming interaction that reflects her pride in our 160 year old institution and her hope that these parents will join our school family. Happily, Mary will continue conducting tours of our school and facilitating admissions even as she steps away from the full time position of school secretary beginning in September of this year. In her new part time position as Marketing and Admissions Coordinator, Mary will continue to invest her talents in growing our school and promoting the many excellent educational and formational opportunities that our parish school offers children, grades Pre-K through 8. Thank you Mary for the blessing you have been and will continue to be to Saint Vincent Martyr School.

Stewardship Corner
Thank you again for supporting our annual Gifted, Grateful and Giving Program. The results confirm that the three hallmarks of our stewardship: fervent prayer, heartfelt participation and inspiring generosity frame the daily rhythm of the ongoing life of our faith community. In last week’s bulletin we highlighted your commitments to prayer and participation, and this week we have a summary of your commitments to generosity.
After we as a community collectively and prayerfully considered our generosity, the annual offertory for the Parish is expected to increase by $125,000.
All our parishioners who regularly give to St. Vincent Martyr recommitted their valued support with 16.5% completing commitment cards which will help us in our annual planning.
Of those who submitted commitment cards, 84% increased their offering an average of 30%.
Seven families newly identify themselves as active supporters of our Church.
Over 350 families participate in on-line giving through Faith Direct. For more information visit our website or https://membership.faithdirect.net/NJ740.
It is important that Parishioners maintain these commitments throughout the year, so that our parish is able to continue its mission to share the love of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your response, prayers and commitment for the work we are doing.
OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL Monday, July 16 at the 8:30 a.m. Mass, we will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Patronal Feast of the Carmelite Order of Friars and Sisters. Its spirituality finds its inspiration in the prophet Elijah, who saw from Carmel a cloud in the distance that would bring rain after a drought. That 'rain bearing cloud' became an image of the savior bearing Mary. Intercessionary prayers will be offered at the conclusion of the Mass, scapulars will be blessed and distributed and a light reception will follow. All are invited. If anyone wishes to bake for the reception, please call Joan Graziano at 973-377-4151.

A Family Perspective
The question in today's gospel, "What will this child be?" concerns all parents. We spend years trying to influence and shape the answer, hoping our children will be "strong in spirit", like the Baptist, and "blessing God' like Zachariah.

prometido a Abraham. No habían tenido
