JUNE 28, 2020 - THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Greetings from the Pastor!Thank you to all the volunteers who continue to make our re-opening so smooth and reverent. We are continuing to add and adjust masses based on the need/demand. I have found that everyone is practicing social distancing and is quite respectful and kind in entering and exiting the churches.

We of course live in uncertain times in so many ways. We have seen racial tensions, law enforcement and the corona virus adding a lot of stress to an already complex daily life.

Some say there is a new “normal” to which I disagree. While things are not as they were nor may they be soon, we must not forget what is consistent. Christ is the same; the Church founded by Him is the same. The human person and the dignity every person has from conception till natural death is the same. The call to be charitable and to see the face of Christ in each person is the same. In some ways perhaps there is more of a clear calling to be intentionally Christian now than a few months ago.

This Saturday, thirteen of our families have chosen to have their children make their First Holy Communion. What a blessed day this will be not for just them, but for our whole parish! I encourage you to remember your own First Holy Communion and to pray for them on their journey through life and this important milestone.

I will soon be announcing the date for Confirmation that blessedly I am able to confirm our candidates with special permission from our bishop.

As we continue our movement towards more masses, please remember the many who join us by livestream and make a good spiritual communion from home. They are very much part of our parish family.

Summer Bible Study, led by Maryann Knag will meet “In Person” from 8:30-10am on 8 consecutive Tuesdays, July 7th - August 18th, after the 8 AM Mass at St. Veronica Chapel. We will meet in the church and will follow all distancing and mask protocols.

Our Bible Study will be broadcast on live streaming, so that those who are not comfortable meeting in person can join online. Live streaming video does not allow for two way communication, i.e. Q & A, but participants will be able to text any questions or comments to Maryann’s iPhone, to which she will respond (203.213.4809).
