Mass Intentions The most beautiful gift one can give to another per-son is the gift of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, for no other gift can ever compare to its infinite value. Mass intentions may be requested up to 6 months in

advance by coming in to the Parish Office during office hours.

Sick or in the Hospital?

If you are sick or homebound and cannot attend Mass and would like to see a priest or receive Holy Communion, please call or have a member of your family call the Parish Office at 864-288-4884. Please note that at Greenville Memorial, Fr. Bart Leon is available to minis-ter to you during your hospital stay. Simply request a priest visit from your nurse. When in Doubt… Unfortunately, when I hear this phrase, I still think of the old rule in school, “when in doubt, Charlie out.” As in, if you don’t know the answer to the question, choosing “c” is always the safest bet to guess the right answer. Who knows if that ever worked though!

Luckily for us as Christians, whenever life hits and we get all turned around, the Church through the Scriptures sends us a reminder…. KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS. When there are so many things going on, so many things of the world pulling at your heart, it is then that we are to stop for a second and recall the commandments. The Gospel today says to stick close to what the Lord has revealed to us, both in the form of the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament and their application and fulfillment in Jesus Christ in the New Testament. When you are tempt-ed to take or covet all these things that are not yours and that are fleeting, recall the commandments. Use them as guardrails of your heart. Jesus goes further to say, be careful even to not dwell on these things in your heart or mind because it will corrupt from the inside. When you are tempted by lust or anger or laziness, stop and ask yourself, what am I called to do in this moment? Then, ask for the strength to do it. Mary Magdalene is full of smart, spiritually aware people; we just have to train ourselves that when we are in doubt or temptation, to stop, recall what the Lord asks of us, and then ask for his strength to do the right thing. Because there is much on the line for us and those around us, hence the first reading today, one of my favorite verses in Scripture:

“If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you;

if you trust in God, you too shall live; he has set before you fire and water

to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand. Before man are life and death, good and evil,

whichever he chooses shall be given him.” Sirach 15:15-18

Fr. Williams

(Mateo 5:37) ©LPi

A Reason to Spend Time in Adoration

Neither theological knowledge nor social action alone is enough to keep us in love with Christ

unless both are proceeded by a personal encounter with Him.

—Bishop Fulton Sheen

Gray walks us through the significance of Jesus giving Peter the “keys of the kingdom,” and how through Peter’s mission, He was restoring and perfecting his Church. Watch on FORMED.ORG.

These four sessions have been carefully designed to help you more richly en-counter God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You will explore the profound effects and healing grace of the Sacrament of Confession and discover the merciful way that God seeks us out when we have sinned and calls us back to himself. You will examine the sacrament from the perspective of both the priest and the penitent, and you will explore the scriptural foundation of the sacrament.

Optional 5th lesson: “Frequently Asked Questions” or “Parent Preparation for First Reconciliation.”
