PUBLIC HEARINGThe Matanuska-Susitna Borough Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing concerning the following application for a variance to the setback requirements, on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 6:15 p.m. in the MSB School District Administration Building, at 501 N. Gulkana Street, Palmer, Alaska. A setback variance under MSB 17.65 – Variances, has been submitted by the University of Alaska for the construction of the Mat-Su College Theater less than 25 feet from the section line easement on the west side of Lot 2, Mat-Su College East Subdivision; 8691 E. Cottrell-Campus Drive; within Township 17 North, Range 1 East, Section 11, Seward Meridian.The variance request will be introduced for public hearing at the March 4, 2013 Planning Commission meeting. The Planning Commission mem-bers may submit questions to the Planning Commission Clerk concerning the matter or request for more information from the applicant at the time of the introduction. All ques-tions and requests submitted by the Commission shall be in writing and copies will be provided to the applicant and made available to all interested parties and the public upon request. Answers to questions and additional material requests will be addressed in the staff report for the public hearing.Commission members may not receive or engage in ex-parte contact with the applicant, other parties interested in the application, or members of the public concerning the application or issues presented in the application.Application material may be viewed online at ww1.matsugov.us/planning by moving your mouse over ‘Permits, Districts, and Variances’ and clicking on ‘Variances’. Application material may be reviewed in the Borough Permit Center of the Planning and Land Use Department. Written comments can be mailed to the MSB Permit Center, 350 E. Comments received prior to March 4, 2013 will be included in the Planning Commission packet for the Commissioner’s review and information. In order to be eligible to file an appeal from a decision of the Planning Commission, a person must be designated an “interested party”. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough has a lot to celebrate!2014 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the incorporation of our Borough, and our unique history of growth, progress, and development is something to commemorate and honor. Volunteers are needed to assist in the planning of these events. The 50th Anniversary Planning Team will be meeting monthly over the next 12 months. ROAD PAVING AND NATURAL GAS LOCAL IMPROVEMENTDISTRICTS (L.I.D.)
The assembly of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough will hold a public hearing during the 6:00 p.m. assem-bly meeting on February 19, 2013 at the Mat-Su Borough School District Admin Building located at 501 North Gulkana St Palmer, Alaska, on the ordinances for the road paving and natural gas local improve-ment districts listed below. The purpose of the public hearing on the ordinances is to determine whether to create the road paving and natural gas local improvement districts, approve the improvement plans, authorize the manager to proceed with the improvements and assess the total costs of the improve-ments against the benefited properties creating a lien on each property assessed. The estimated total costs of the improvements and estimated assessment against each property is set forth below. The estimated cost stated is subject to change. The actual costs to be assessed will be determined upon completion of construction.
The assembly, for the road paving improvement district, may proceed with the improvement if owners of properties within the district bearing at least one-half of the estimated total costs of the improvement, return ballots marked “yes” to the Finance Department, attention Michael Newman, prior to 5 p.m. on February 15, 2013.
