BBS

• B. F. Skinner – Developed the concept of Operant

Conditioning… Organisms are motivated by how their

behavior OPERATES on the environment.

• Pavlov – Developed the concept of associative

learning – Organisms are motivated through paired

stimuli.

• Occur before

behaviour

instructions

• Cue behaviour

Examples:

Rules and Procedures, Tool and Equipment, Information, Sign, Decision. Skill, Knowledge, Training, Expectation

BEHAVIOR

• Desirable behavior

–job behavior which meets expectations and requirements

–complies with all safety rules all of the time ( safe behavior)

• Undesirable behavior

–job behavior which does not meet expectations and requirements

–fail to comply with all safety rules (Unsafe Behavior)

CONSEQUENCES

• Are either Positive (+) or Negative (-) for the behaviours

• Predict the probability of future behaviour

• Occur after the behaviour

• Are too powerful to be left to chance
