We are very pleased to announce the safe arrivals of baby girl, Violet, on March 24th. She was soon joined by baby boy, Loki, on March 26th. Both babies are thriving. Their moms are enjoying this time bonding with their newborns. They are also hard at work on their individual program objectives: returning to

work, securing childcare and finding permanent housing. The entire staff is delighted to have these two beautiful babies in our midst!

Prior to the stay-at-home order, the residents participated in a house bonding activity in which they were given the task to come up with an activity to spread positivity in the home. As a group, they decided to collect and paint rocks. The rocks were painted with encouraging words and images and then placed all around the city of Placerville. This was a fun and productive experience for all.

Staff and residents started our vegetable garden at the beginning of April and we are already seeing results! We all look forward to our home grown veggies and berries!

During the stay at home time ordered due to Covid 19 the women have been entertaining themselves with arts and crafts, puzzles, and the occasional social distancing walk. We are all abiding by the mandated rules to keep the home and all involved healthy.

Local SDA Women’s Ministry Donates Masks to MTMH Home

A special thank you to the Placerville Seventh-day Adventist Church Women’s Ministry for their donation of masks.

In total, this group has made upwards of 1,700 masks for first responders and other community agencies in the Placerville area. The staff and residents at Mother Teresa Maternity Home are grateful for the support and safety this amazing group of women has provided!

South Lake Tahoe with a private pier and beach access, and game tickets to the Oakland A’s and Sacramento Kings, to mention just a few.

Our “Fund – A- Need,” gave everyone an opportunity to participate in the funding of the much needed Education Fund. This fund will be used to assist our residents who have had their education disrupted by moves, abuse and poverty. The fund will be used to pay for high school and community college courses, testing fees, driver training and licensing fees, uniforms and equipment as needed. One of our goals is to have them leave Mother Teresa Maternity Home as more educated women with the skills of productive members of our community.

We’d like to thank all those involved in making this a memorable night. Sponsors, donors, generous attendees and the volunteers who donated countless hours made the 2020 Evening of Elegance one of the best ever. We couldn’t do it without you.

Poverty, Homelessness, Drug Addiction – we can be overwhelmed by the serious problems we see each day in our own community. We feel compelled to do something to solve these problems, but the question is, what can we really do? The board of the Mother Teresa Maternity Home invites you to join us in working on a solution, one day, one woman, one infant at a time.

Since December 1998, the Mother Teresa Maternity Home has served over 385 pregnant homeless women,

providing a safe, drug-free home for the duration of their pregnancy and for three months after the birth of their child. We house six women at a time, providing them with a program designed to improve their lives. The program includes prenatal care, parenting classes, drug and alcohol counseling, and introduction to community services. We receive no money from the state or federal government and rely on fundraising activities and donations. Our biggest expense is salaries for our staff. The

Home is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with relief workers and a Home Director.

We need your help – both moral and financial. We need a more regular income, funds that we can count on each month. We hope that you will see this as an opportunity for you to make an ongoing commitment to the Mother Teresa Maternity Home with a monthly monetary donation. In that way you will be helping to solve those overwhelming community problems of poverty, homelessness and drug addiction.

We would be happy to speak with you in person to explain our mission and to answer your questions. Please contact the Maternity Home at (530) 295-8006 or send us an email at [email protected].
