In old times people used fingers and feet to measure length and height. Inch comes from the distance from the tip of a person’s thumb to the first joint. Guess where foot comes from!

Inch (in.) – a small unit of measureFoot (ft.) – a unit of measure equal

1 foot is approximately 30 ½ cm. 1 yard is approximately 90 ½ cm – almost a meter
