Please be aware that the activities set are optional, open ended tasks for you to use when and if you wish. There is no expectation that all the tasks are complete.

We invite families to pick and choose learning activities that work for them; to take a break/holiday from home learning if you wish

or to keep on with the routine depending on individual circumstances.

Reception

Learning at Home Tasks

The Circle of Life: Week 2

Math (Number & Shape, Space and Measure) Number:

• Listen to the song ‘5 little speckled frogs’ on

YouTube. Use your fingers to represent the

frogs and take one away every time a frog

jumps into the pool. Have a go at writing

number sentences for each time a frog

jumps into the pool (e.g. 4 -1= …) How many

frogs are left? You can use objects or

drawings to help you work out the answers.

Challenge: Imagine there are 10 frogs on

the log. Have a go at writing subtraction

number sentences from 10 (10 – 1= 9 etc.). If

you want to turn the challenge up even

higher, try starting from 20.

Shapes, Space and Measure:

• In school we have learnt about 2D and 3D

shapes. Listen to the 2D and 3D shapes

songs on YouTube to practice saying the

shape names.

• If possible, ask your grown up to download

the 2D and 3D shapes PowerPoints to help

you learn. The links can be found below.

• It’s time for a 3D shape hunt. Use the shape

hunt task sheet to search for shapes around

your home. Create a tally by recording

each time you spot a 3D shape on your hunt

sheet.

• Find some 3D shaped objects that you can

hold and explore. This could be a tennis ball,

a tissue box or even a kitchen roll tube. Use

your imagination and your objects to create

a 3D model such as a castle or a pirate ship.

Which 3D shapes have you used?

• Draw your model in your home learning

book and label which shapes you used.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The character of the Vet in our story ‘The Zoo Vet’ has

a very important job. What is his job? How did he help

each of the animals?

Talk to your grownups about how the animals would

have felt before and after they visited the vet. Some

of the animals may have felt a little bit scared before

going to the vet.

Miss Khan sometimes feels scared when she must go

to the dentist. Miss Khan made a worry monster to

feed all her worries to. She writes her worries on a

piece of paper and the monster gobbles them up,

then she feels brave. Use the sheet below to make

your own Worry Monster.

Physical Development

Moving and Handling

It is important to stay moving in order to stay fit and healthy! Have a go at

these activities at home and involve as many members of your family as you

can! Yoga helps you to keep fit and relax. Here are two yoga videos for

children. Just listen to the story and follow the actions:

Cosmic Yoga: Frank the Frog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMFlyfnZlaI

On the Farm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKmRB2Z3g2s

Fine Motor Skills: Animal Rescue

Do you have some rubber bands at home? Choose a toy animal and play

animal rescue:

Ask a grown up to wrap the animal up in rubber bands. Then try to free it. How

long does it take you to remove all the bands?

Understanding the World Science:

● Using the link of ‘Lifecycle of a Frog’ in real life -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAcwjWi6I9Y. Have a go at making the lifecycle of the frog by using

the template or draw and label on your blue learning book.

● Mrs Pindoria has included a recipe of a ‘Chocolate Orange Cake’ that she made over the Easter holidays. Ask a grown-up to help you read and make

the cake. Have a look at how the dry and wet ingredients look and feel. What happened when you put the cake in the oven? Draw and label your cake

in your blue learning book. Technology:

● Use Google or Youtube to find out more about Frogs. Draw pictures of different types of frogs you have researched about. Find out where do frogs live

and eat? How are they different from a caterpillar or a butterfly?

● Take photos of your cake making. You can also make a video on how to make a chocolate orange cake with you grown-up.

● Have a go at creating 3D animals using this link: https://9to5google.com/2020/04/11/google-3d-animals-list/ on a mobile phone or your tablet/IPad. People and Communities:

● Create and design your own celebration cake. What flavour would your cake be? What toppings would you choose to go on your cake? Put all your

ideas in your blue learning book.

Expressive Arts and Design Design and Make: Can you make a giraffe from our story ‘The Zoo Vet’?. Draw

around your hand and arm then colour or stick a pattern on the

giraffe!

Imagine: Make up a story about yourself and your dream pet. What is its

name? What adventures would the 2 of you go on together? Tell

your story to a grown up!

Music and Dance: • Listen to the song “Five Little speckled Frogs” and dance

and sing along with your family.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IChM4FhIZk

• Dance along to ‘Boogie Beebies’ Hey Monkey – Can you

copy all the actions?
