Math Summer Assignment

Dear Parents/Guardians of incoming 4th Graders,

Welcome to 4th grade!!! I am so excited to meet you and kick off the 2017-2018 school year! We are going to have a fantastic, fun-filled year! You are going to experience so much in math and I cannot wait to get started!

With so much to learn, it is important to start out on the right foot!

Students entering 4th grade in September will be REQUIRED to complete the math summer assignment. The assignment will be due on the first day of school. The summer assignment will count as the first test grade for the l-'t marking period. Failure to turn in a completed summer math assignment will result in a zero.

Please visit the Midland School website and go to the "For Students" section & click on Summer Assignments. Then click on Grade 4 Math Assignment and please print out and complete the Prerequisite Skills inventory. This inventory is a compilation of 3'd grade math skills. From this inventory, I will be able to determine general areas of strength and weakness for each incoming student. ln order to gain an accurate understanding of your child's math skills the inventory should be done individually with little to no assistance from others. lf you are having difficulty with a particular problem just try your best and move on ! I highly encourage you to use scrap paper and staple it onto your inventory.
