Now for some new learning.

This week we are saying goodbye to fractions – well, sort of! We are going to be looking at decimals, which will involve combining our place value knowledge with our fraction work.

In Year 4, you would have learnt about numbers up to 2 decimal places, which includes tenths and hundredths.

1 whole = 1 0.1 = ଵଵ

= one tenth 0.01 = ଵ

ଵ= one hundredth

We will begin this week by securing this.

Please look through and discuss the following slides with an adult or someone else at home, before having a go at the questions on slide 40 and 41 on your own. The answers are on the two slides following them.

There are quite a few slides, which get progressively harder. Work through them at a sensible pace, it doesn’t all have to be completed in one go.
