RE

Today we are going to listen to a traditional tale called the Mango Tree by

Jamila Gavin. Go to Purple Mash and watch the video of Mrs Watson reading

the story. Or you can read the story for yourself here:

https://www.barhamprimary.co.uk/attachments/download.asp?file=651&type=pdf How does this story link with celebrations from Raksha Bandhan? What

important concepts are shown in the story? Who is being protected in the story?

Once you have listened to the story choose your favourite part and draw a picture of it.

Then in sentences write what was happened and what important concepts the story you found in the story.

Science Over the next two weeks choose a habitat of your choice that you want to research into further.

Make a shoebox diorama of your chosen habitat (see below for some examples). Make sure you

research it first and think about what plants and animals live in your habitat. Use the bbc bitesize

website to help you https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zx882hv. Don’t forget to send me a

photo of your finished piece!

History

This week we are going to think about what Charles

Kingsley’s Primary School was like in the past. At the end

of this document you will find some photos taken at

Charles Kingsley’s from the early 1900s.

If you can, print off the pictures and start to label the

different things you can see/find. Start to think about what

looks the same or different from Charles Kingsley’s today.

Computing

This week we are going to learn about simluations. A simluation is a computing

programme that might be used if the real life situation is too dangerous, takes too long, is

too quick to study or is too expensive to create. People can change things and solve a

problem within a simulation. Can you think of any examples? People in your family might

be able to help you.

Here are two simulations for you to try so that you can start to understand what a

simulation is. Try and play them several times. What do you notice the more you play

them? Do you do things differently?

PHSE

Let’s think about change. We go through many changes in our lives. Can you think

about any changes that have happened to you in your life? Think about how you have

changed from the beginning of year 2 to now. What kinds of things have you achieved

that you couldn’t do when you started school? Have you learnt a new skill recently? Is

there something you used to struggle with that you can now do easily?

There will be some new changes in September as you start a new year. Miss Church and

I are really excited to see you all this week and would love to answer any questions that

you may have or talk about any concerns.

DAILY ACTIVITIES

PE – Please remember to get outside and have a run around, play games etc.

Don’t forget to keep fit and healthy.

Remember to use Joe Wicks or you could try Dance with Oti

There is also the Hampshire School games challenge on our class page.

Mindfulness Break – It is important to keep mentally well during this time. Each week there

will be an activity you can do, either by yourself or with your family.

Roll a tennis ball on your back

An old physical therapy trick, rolling a tennis ball on your child’s back will give them a gentle

massage when they are most in need of a calming touch. Focus on the shoulders, neck, and lower

back as these are typical places where the body holds tension.

Photo 1 date unknown, but a Frith postcard. Francis Frith was the first professional postcard

manufacturer in England in Victorian times so maybe turn of century?
