2007 – 2010 - Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House, VA Pastor Served this church as pastor while completing my M.A. degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Directed and led worship on Sunday mornings with a group of children who played music. E D U C A T I O N M.A. in Christian Ethics. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC. Completed enough credits to qualify for M.Div equivalency. Took many classes such as NT Greek that were not required for the M.A. degree. B.A. in Biblical Studies. Southeastern Bible College, Birmingham, AL P H I L O S O P H Y O F M I N I S T R Y I can identify with Jeremiah 20:9. Jeremiah said God’s Word was “a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.” I believe God’s Word to be perfect and without error, but also a word revealed through imperfect people within various historical contexts. Therefore, my preaching style involves examining His word as it was revealed in the respective historical and grammatical context. I am not opposed to teaching occasional topical series, but the majority of my teaching will include orderly exposition of various books of the Bible. Another essential element of my teaching is that I believe the gospel of Jesus Christ to be the central story of the entire Bible. Jesus highlighted this truth after His resurrection, as Luke 24:27 tells us: “beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” Therefore the purpose of every sermon should be to fix people’s eyes upon Jesus! P E R S O N A L I have been blessed with a beautiful, godly wife, Elizabeth, for the past fourteen years. The Lord has graciously given us four children: Caleb, 12, Isaac, 10, Micah, 9, and Mercy, 4. Caleb and Isaac have professed and evidenced faith in Christ and have been baptized. R E F E R E N C E S
