MAUNGAKARAMEA PRIMARY SCHOOL TERM 4, WEEK 4 - 6 NOVEMBER 2015 NEWSLETTER Dear Parents and caregivers, What a busy couple of weeks we have had! Firstly thank you to all the parents who have helped us in the past few weeks. We had a working bee where parents painted and gardened and worked hard to help enhance our school environment. You did a wonderful job. We had very positive feedback about our calf club day and the general consensus was that having it on a Saturday worked really well. It was great to see a number of extended family members here to enjoy the day. The PSG did a wonderful job organising things and the raffle was a great success. Special mention goes to the Maungakaramea Garage who gave us so much support in many ways – we really appreciate this. Many thanks to everyone that helped set up and tidy up – many hands always make light work. A special thanks to Todd Skudder who did a marvelous job as MC and to Murray Child who was our judge – his experience is very much valued. All the staff put in an enormous effort to ensure that the children had a great time organising their flower day exhibits etc. We hope to build on this and make it even better and bigger next year and we will start this planning early next year. As you know we have just had a visit from the Education Review Office and although it will be awhile before the report is completed, initial indications are very positive. The children preformed a most amazing Powhiri to welcome them and we are all so proud of them. Many thanks to Trudi Bertie for all your work to make this such a success. A huge thank you to the parents that shared all the positive things that are happening at the school with them. We are working hard to strengthen community links so this feedback was great. Remember, if you do have any issues, please come in and talk to me about them as if we are unaware of them, we cannot work together to solve them. Thank you. A huge welcome to Te Amorangi Edmonds to our school – he has settled in really well. In a couple of weeks we have Quinn White starting so another huge welcome to him as well. Next Friday we are having our athletics sports and really need your support for this - being help on the day. The PSG is having a meeting this afternoon to sort out details as to what help is needed. As usual we ask that each family bring along a plate of food to be sold on the day. This is our major fundraising for the year so the more food we have, the more money we can make to go towards resources for your children. I hope you all have a very restful weekend. Kind regards Kath Edwards Principal Noticeboard Trophies Please can everyone who received trophies last year return these as soon as possible.
