Bubble Wrap TumblerSize: 150mm d x 120mm hPrice for a set of 2 Tumblers: £300.

Bubble Wrap Bowls are a continuation of a series of decanters which play on the theme of traditional cut crystal and their packaging. The Bubble Wrap bowls take a soft and inexpensive material used in the pack-aging of delicate glass objects and translate it into something valuable. This series is also available as a bowl.

Calortype Bowl

Size: 450mm d x 40mm h£735.

Calortype Bowl is a unique colour mixing system in which colours are blended inside the molten hot environment of the kiln. A clear base glass is mixed with intense colour tints and carefully layered inside a crucible. At high temperature the glass flows out in a continuous stream into a rippled mould. Unpredict-able and irreproducible, the process creates a unique colour palette in every piece with varriation in color trapped inbetween the ripples. These dishes are made from high quality optical crystal and like lenses they project coloured rings onto a table surface when light is transmitted through the material.

Colour Drop Discs

Size: 180mm d x 15mm h£65-£150.

A variation on the Calortype Bowl, Colour Drop dishes use a unique colour mixing system in which co-lours are blended inside the molten hot environment of the kiln. A clear base glass is mixed with intense colour tints and carefully layered inside a crucible. At high temperature the glass flows out in a contin-uous stream resulting in concentric circles as it puddles on to the surface of the mould. Unpredictable and irreproducible, the process creates a unique colour palette in every dish distributing patterns like a subtle drawing or a cosmic sky. These dishes are made from high quality optical crystal and like lenses they project colourful patterns onto a table surface when light is transmitted through the material. These are available in two sizes: 175mm D and 225mm D.

Thames River Bed in Coloured Czech Glass (various colours available)

Size: 450mm d x 30mm h£750

In 2012 Max began work on a project that would take on a life of it’s own in the future. The casting of the surface of the River Thames, London, UK during low tide was the impetus for a collection of bowls cast in glass and crystal. This practice of casting from the landscape has developed and has been translated into moss, bark and soil. The series is available in three sizes and continues to expand on the practice of cast landscapes in various locations and materials from across the globe. We continue to implement new tex-tures and invite artists to contribute to breadth of textures that can be cast and developed into bowls.

MAX JACQUARD GLASS STUDIO

Born on the edge of London in 1964 Max Jacquard trained briefly as a furniture designer before switching to the relative freedom of ceramics and glass on the course at High Wycombe, liberally run in the late eighties by Sam Herman. Jacquard’s practice began by producing ranges of loosely functional vessel formsand lit objects for galleries whilst working on larger works to commission. Over time his work has fo-cused on glass sculpture and large-scale architectural projects. He has established a strong reputation for innovation both in technique and concept that makes his work distinctive and unique amongst UK Glass Artists. Max’s style combines personal stories with diverse cultural references including Archaeology,Alchemy, Science and Craft Traditions. Kiln forming is employed as the central technique, but the results are extensively cold worked and combined with other media in a rich sculptural language.

Jacquard is well known for working collaboratively and organising group exhibitions and events. In 1998 he co-founded the artists group New London Glass and was pivotal in the organisation of exhibitions such as Sub Urban Glass at Gloucester Road Underground Station. In 2001 Max won the Glass Sellers Award with an early core cast piece entitled ‘Limb’. In 2002 his work exhibited in the exhibition ‘Solid Air’ atthe Crafts Council explored a new area of sound and light which integrated large-scale hanging glass fig-ures in a sensory experience. Since this time his work has been acquired by the V&A Museum, The Shipley Museum of Applied Arts and the MAVA Museum in Alcorcon, Madrid. Utilising unique fragile casting tech-niques in 2006 he completed a series of crumpled tissues in clear crystal titled ‘For My LostLoves’ for which he was awarded first prize in the UK Glass Biennale.

Max works from his spacious converted barn studio in Maidstone, Kent where he takes on a range of chal-lenging sculptural and architectural projects and exhibits regularly. He is continually involved in education, regularly leading short courses from his own studio and in Europe including Bildwerk, Fraunau, Germany.
