What’s been happening in your village?

Maxey Summer Fayre

Firstly a very big thank you to all the residents who supported the Summer Fayre this year. The day started

with a bit of rain which soon cleared up and the wind continued throughout the day. Never the less it didn’t

stop people coming out to support the day. The sun came out and a good time was had by all.

Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets, donated bottles, toys and bric a brac. All of these things

helped massively to make the Fayre such a success.

There are many local businesses and individuals to thank for their very generous donations for the raffle, the

bar, the BBQ , sponsoring some of the stalls and the help we received on the day.

We managed to raise £3,278 this year and we couldn’t have done this without all the Maxey residents and

friends, who helped, supported and attended the Fayre. The money raised will go towards the kitchen

refurbishment at the hall and also to help put on some great events for the community throughout the coming

year. Please see below in recognition of some of the businesses that we would like to thank for their

continued support of our villages activities and hall:

Village Hall News

MCA recently applied for a grant from the Big Lottery fund and we

were successful in receiving £9,900.

With this money we have been able to purchase much needed new tables for the hall and also to buy new kitchen equipment. Some of the remaining money will be used towards new kitchen appliances and when all the work is complete we should have

enough of the grant left over to redecorate the hall. At the Summer Fayre we asked the Mayor of Peterborough to present the cheque to the MCA in recognition of the funding and for which we are extremely grateful. The money will go a long way to help improve the facilities for the community and the users of the village hall.. Maxey Community Association

A message from the Chairman. The Maxey Community Association and their partners have, and are, working extremely hard behind the scenes by giving up their precious personal time to put on various events for all of our villagers from children’s parties, dances and pensioners’ lunches. I have noted of late a marked increase of local residents attending our events which is excellent news as the word is obviously getting out that these occasions are planned pre-cisely to ensure the total enjoyment of our attendees and are great occasions. We have a remarkable team who bring all sorts of skills and experiences to our happy committee. We may well give up our free time but it is not an inconvenience as we also seem to spend a lot of time socialising together. With that said we are always looking for new members to join our crew so if you fancy joining us please contact me or one of our members who will gladly answer any questions you may have. If you haven’t yet joined us for a past event please try and make time to attend as I am sure you won’t be disappointed. Mark Asplin
