Joseph Hauer, from Appleton, WI, is a junior at Oberlin Conservatory studying with Peter Takács. His former teach-ers include Catherine Kautsky, Kyung Kim, Catherine Wal-by, and Charlene Reitz. In past summers he has attended the Golandsky Institute Summer Symposium at Princeton University, PianoSummer at New Paltz, NY, and Pianofest in the Hamptons. He has soloed with the Fox Valley Sympho-ny, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, as well as performing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with a student orchestra at Oberlin in January 2012. His performances have been broadcast statewide on Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio. In March 2012, Joseph performed Brahms’ Piano Trio in B Major with his trio at a house con-cert in New York City. This past January he performed solo recitals in Valley Cottage, New York. Joseph attends Oberlin on a full scholarship from the Miller Family Music Education Scholarship of Appleton, WI. His other interests include jazz piano, Russian, racquetball, and snowboarding.
