Mothers are instruments of Christ’s presence in the home. A mother’s love reveals the a en ve, though ul, serving, forgiving and concerned side of God’s love. Our Parish Vaca on Bible School “Miraculous Mission-Jesus Saves the World” sched-uled for June has been cancelled for this year. We look forward to seeing you next year!

ALL CONFESSIONS ARE CANCELLED and the Church is locked un l further no ce. Please know of our prayers for you and your loved ones in this me of crisis. The ac ons taken by both Church and state are proac ve and will, by God’s grace, result in a quick resolu on to the current calamity. We, as St. Benedict Faith Community, since we cannot physically gather in the Church, we will begin spiritually gathering united as a Parish Family to celebrate these devo ons in this most trying of mes Each Wednesday will be prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 6:30 pm. A new plenary indulgence has been granted for praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet. If you are interested in purchasing, please contact the Parish Office at 266-9718 / Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - Noon. In your envelope box for the month of May you will find an envelope for Rosary Makers Dona on. This special offering is for a special group “Our Lady of Grace Rosary Makers” of St. Benedict Church. This group has a great devo on to Our Blessed Mother. When making a rosary, a prayer on each bead is offered for a special inten on or the inten on of Our Blessed Mother. Rosaries are sent to many hospitals, our local hospice units, missions, incarcerated, churches, our First Holy Communion Students and Divine Mercy Catholic Academy. Members receive all materials from dona ons. Please be a generous as possible.

Hospital Protocols

Covid-19 restric ons, Bishop Mark said, “Those who are hospitalized should con nue to receive visita on and sacraments as permi ed by hospital policy. Thus priests and deacons who serve as hospital chaplains and in emergent coverage should con nue these func ons.”

The Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center has determined that 1) Pastoral care visits will be limited to sacramental ministry to pa ents in immediate danger of death and 2) only the hospital chaplains will perform that service. If you are reques ng last rites for a pa ent, please contact the hospital switchboard at 534-9000, and request the chaplain on call.

Mass for Widows and Widowers to be Televised

The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown is con nuing its

support for those mourning the loss of a spouse.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Family Life

Office will not hold its annual Masses for Widows and

Widowers, which were scheduled at two parishes in May.

Instead, widows and widowers who register will be

recognized as part of the Sunday Mass celebrated privately

on May 31st at Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in

Johnstown. Bishop Mark will be the celebrant and

homilist, and deceased spouses of all registered individuals

will be acknowledged and remembered during the liturgy.

The Mass will air live at 11:00 am on WATM ABC 23 and

will be rebroadcast that night at 9:00 pm on

Atlan c Broadband Channel 9. The Family Life Office invites you to register by May 20, 2020 by calling the Family Life Office at 814-317-2647 or 814-317-2643 or through email at [email protected]. It is with great sadness that we have decided to cancel the 2020 St. Benedict Parish Reunion due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Our primary concern is the safety of everyone involved in planning and those who support our reunion. Please be aware that the Reunion Commi ee is currently working to move forward with the many reunion related ac vi es. In May, we will focus on cket sales for the 2020 Ford EcoSport SE - All Wheel Drive, $500 Gi Card Tickets (Sheetz / Walmart) and $100 per day for 14 days (formerly $100 an hour)

The commi ee is also exploring some other exci ng ac vi es that can be held while the large gathering restric ons are in place as well as when they are li ed. So stay tuned! We are looking forward to returning to our normal reunion next year which will be held on July 9th,10th, and 11th, 2021. We hope to see every-one soon. Stay safe and con nue to pray for everyone that has been impacted by this pandemic.
