May 12, 2019 – Fourth Sunday of Easter
“The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.” (Acts
13:52) The disciples heard Our Lord’s call and were able to
spread the Gospel message with strength and vitality. We,
too, can experience that same joy if we make room for the
Holy Spirit to fill our hearts. When we use our gifts in the
way that God intends, He fills us with supernatural joy. A
joy that others notice and are attracted to.
TF138: Religion And Violence Part 1
Is religion inherently violent? From shootings in New
Zealand to explosions in Sri Lanka, this perennial topic has
made its way into the public eye yet again - if it has ever
been far in the first place. In this part one of two, Brett and
Eric discuss the potential behind the argument. Is this a
problem with religion as a whole or might there be a more
subtle ideological mechanism at work? Walking a winding
road seeking lasting peace, this week on Thinking Faith!

“Listening to the Gospel as a Family” – In our information age much of the news we hear is often negative. Now we have to contend with not only bad news but fake news. What we really need is good news. Our loving encounter with Jesus, the God-Man is truly good news that sets us free and brings us joy. Pope Francis tells us that “the joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus” and when “we have received the love which restores meaning to our lives, how can we fail to share that love with others?” (Evangelii Gaudium, 1 & 8). Let us experience God’s love for us by taking time to listen to the gospel as a family so that we may share with others the joy of the gospel. Peace Prayer of St. Francis Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. AMEN.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy. Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weeping in this valley of tears!
Turn then O most gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us,
And after this, our exile, show unto us The blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
