Founded in 1906 Purpose (from 1906 Articles of

Association): “to construct or acquire, maintain and operate a

standard broad gauge railroad, with one or more tracks. . . of the length of ten miles or thereabouts. . . to a point of connection with other railroads now or hereafter constructed. . .”

“also switch or spur tracks necessary and convenient for the operation of said line and to connect it with the industries or business concerns now or hereafter established along, adjacent to or in the vicinity of said main lines. . .”

Purpose (continued): “to construct, establish, maintain and

operate a Union Station for passengers or freight depots, or for both”

“to take and hold such real estate and railroad and other property as it may acquire by conveyance or by condemnation”

2001 Highline/Kaw River Bridge Rehabilitation

Double-deck, double-track bridge spanning the Kansas River

Part of structure originally built in 1911

Spans in both Kansas and Missouri One of UP’s primary coal routes Financed through $57M bond

2001 Argentine Connection Project

• Effectuated 3-level grade separation on KCT property just east of BNSF’s Argentine Yard

Switching Operation

KCTL formed Began operations on March 1, 2006
