STEWARDSHIP is a way of life
Thank you for your continued generosity.
Prayerful Stewardship
Prayer - the foundation of our Faith and the foundation of
Stewardship. Pray in good times and in bad. Prayer is always the
first best option in any situation. Pray for friends and family and for
those that may not treat you very well. Pray to give praise, to thank
and to ask God for help. Also, pray to see what God wants us to
do.

PARISH NEWS Seventh Sunday of Easter—May 17, 2015
This Week, our parish will take up
the Collection for the Catholic
Communication Campaign. This
collection communicates the Gospel
through Catholic Social Media
activities and enriches our faith
through podcasts, television, radio,
and print media. Half of all proceeds
remain in our (arch) diocese and
support local needs, so please be
generous in this collection.
GODSPEED
It is with regret that we announce the
departure of Sister Patricia McGinley, SSJ from
our parish staff, effective the end of May. Sister
Pat has accepted a new position at the Church
of Saint Ann in Lawrenceville, NJ. The process
to seek her replacement has already begun.
We are grateful to Sister Pat for her
outstanding service to our parish and wish her
every blessing in the years ahead.
LaFamiglia (on Haddon Ave. near the
PNC Bank) will be the meeting place for
the Senior Scene on Wednesday, May
20th at 12:30pm. We will have a
delicious lunch followed by a talk from
a local Master Gardener who
will demonstrate container
planting. Everyone is welcome. Please
give Mary Ellen a call at 428-8742 with
your reservation. It will be great to see
everyone!
In Loving Memory
We are saddened by the death of Kathy Isherwood,
our former Director of Religious Education. After a
long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed
away on Sunday, May 10, 2015. Her funeral was
held on Thursday, May 14 at Christ the King. We
offer our sympathy to her Mother, Lorraine, her
brother William, Jr, and her niece, Jill – all of whom
were loyal and lovingly faithful to Kathy all
through her illness. If you wish to send cards of
sympathy and support, please address them to the
Parish Office and we will forward them to her
family. Well done – good and faithful servant! May
she rest in peace.

of the Well event on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in grateful
recognition and deep gratitude for her 15 years of bringing
Women to the Well and enhancing their personal journey
with Jesus Christ. Now after 15 years, Nancy's idea ..."to
offer something to women for women and by women", has
been an incredible influence on the lives of so many
women from Christ the King and neighboring parishes. We

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CELEBRATION – Saturday
May 9th & May 16th – 9:30 & 11:30 AM
Sharing Bread Baking Stories - In preparation for First Holy Communion, the families
baked bread at home and the breads were blessed by Fr. Jim at the ceremony. So far, here is what
one family has shared.
We were sitting in church during Tuesday night First Holy Communion practice, when Mom
leaned over to son and said “We have to make bread in two days for your First Holy
Communion.” Son replies, “I can’t make bread.” Mom replies, “We will make it together.” Son
exclaims, “Mom, I can’t even make toast, and you expect me to make bread”?
The Season of Easter – Seventh Sunday We Are Not Alone
Jesus turns his eyes to heaven and prays in earnest for his Apostles, asking God to protect
and consecrate them. Following the Ascension we see the Apostles turning to God in
prayer for guidance and wisdom. Jesus modeled many forms of prayer during his earthly
life, giving us the Lord’s Prayer, meal prayers, intercessory prayer, solitary prayer, and
discernment. Set aside time each day for reflection and prayer. Consider your thoughts
and your ways. Listen for the prompting of the Holy Spirit drawing you closer to God.
St. Theresa of Avila insisted that authentic prayer changes us, transforms us. In his prayer, Jesus brings
together his Father, his disciples, and all who will hear them preach the gospel. He wants his Father to
be glorified, his disciples to be consecrated, and finally, he wants all who hear their preaching to be
united with the Father and him. The last words of Jesus is to be our prayer; that God be glorified, that
we believers be transformed by the power and truth of the gospel, and that others come to believe
through us and how we witness to the gospel in word and deed. The last words of Jesus addressed to
God are a prayer that all find communion through him. (At Home with the Word 2015)
