Best Wishes to all

We hope you have

a speedy recovery.

.

The month of May has

arrived and, hopefully, with

it will come some warmer

weather and the beautiful

spring flowers. If you’re

like me you’ve had enough

of the cold, wet April we’ve been through.

Our lodge will roll through May right into a

busy summer season. We will send our dele-

gation to the NYSOSIA Grand Convention in

early June. Soon after that we’ll get into our

summer party season, hosting graduations,

weddings, stag parties, etc., each weekend

throughout the summer. We’ll squeeze in our

two day Italian Festival in mid July. It will be

a lot of work, but also a lot of fun for all who

participate. Our giant “Lots of Cash” raffle

will also conclude at the festival.

Many thanks go out to the brothers who have

been working hard over the past three months

to complete the many renovation projects that

were done, and who are still working on a

couple more. We also completed another very

successful Lenten Fish Dinner season of seven

Friday night dinners. Thanks go out to Jamie

Kaim, Jr., Tony Idoni, Rich Evangelista, Jeff

Woodhams, and Jill Woodhams, who were

there every week to keep things going.

To all, enjoy the spring weather, get out and

plant your gardens, honor your mothers on

Mother’s Day, celebrate our lost heroes on

Memorial Day, and get ready for a great sum-

mer with the Sons of Italy .

God bless and ciao for now.

Summer Italian Festival

Our annual lodge Summer

Italian Festival is a little over

two months away. The festi-

val has always been a high-

light of our lodge, and a

showcase for presenting to

the local community our cul-

ture, heritage, customs, and

foods. Many people only

come here once each year

just to sample the foods we

offer.

Over the past couple of years

it has become increasingly

difficult to find members

willing to volunteer their time

to manage, setup, cook, and

man all of our booths for the

two days of the festival. The

lodge council has been debat-

ing whether to cut back the

festival to one day and/or not

hold a festival at all. In the

end it was decided to move

ahead with our two day for-

mat because so many people

look forward to this event

each summer.

We will need the help of all

of our members to pull this

off successfully. Please call

the lodge and pledge your

support or attend the next

festival mtg. scheduled for

May 19th at 7:00 pm.

Working together we can

show the community that the

Sons of Italy is alive and well

and that we can throw a great

party.

The festival will be held the

weekend of July 15 & 16.

Region of Campania

Campania is a region cele-

brated for its climate, the fertil-

ity of the lands and the aston-

ishingly beautiful landscapes.

The territory is mostly gentle

hills, apart from the Matese

mountains bordering Molise

and the rugged Irpinia area.

The Vesuvius on the Gulf of

Naples is one of the very few

still active volcanoes in

Europe. The two beautiful

gulfs of Naples and Salerno

with the Amalfi coast, sepa-

rated by the Sorrento penin-

sula, are world famous for the

high cliffs, sandy bays, grot-

toes and islands (Ischia, Pro-

cida, Capri), each view an en-

chanting postcard picture, and

such a great experience for the

senses, the feel of the air, the

odours of the pine trees, lem-

ons and oranges, that the an-

cients rightly called this region

"felix ager", a happy land.

More about Campania in up-

coming issues of LaGazzetta.
