relax.

Our luncheon speaker is Karin B. Stanford who is currently themuseum program supervisor at Mission San Luis. Thisencompasses the guest services, education, and living historyprograms at Mission San Luis, a National Historic Landmark site inTallahassee, Florida.

Prior to that Karin worked at the Museum of Florida History from2000-2007. Karin spent almost 20 years at another living historymuseum, Historic St. Mary’s City, in Maryland. Karin also workedat the Smithsonian Institution and the Folger Shakespeare Library.She has a BA from the University of West Florida and an MA fromGeorge Washington University in Washington, D.C. Karinreceived a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowshipwhile at GW.

Job Opportunities: Department of State – Purchasing Specialist, Agency for Workforce Innovation – Purchasing Specialist Supervisor,Citizens Property Insurance – Purchasing Specialist and Purchasing Analyst.

President: President Smith asked the membership to submit nominations for a Vice President and a Board member. Contact Wendi Sellerswith nominations. Should either of the current members find government employment before the next meeting, the voting for thatposition will be cancelled.

Introduction of Speaker: Vice President Robert Threewitts introduced Derrek Friend, Chief Information Officer, from the Tallahassee PoliceDepartment. He is replacing David McCranie who has been a speaker at past Chapter meetings. Derrek covered extensive information onthe structure, services and programs of the TPD. Members Present: Donna Smith, President; Robert Threewitts, Vice President; Susan Barr, Secretary; Wendi Sellers, Immediate PastPresident; Board Members: Brenda Wells, Charles Day, Ed Valla, Dave Callaway, and Bill Spencer, Gloria Dixon.

Members Absent: Mark Lovell, Treasurer.

President Donna Smith called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM.

Old Business: Low meeting attendance was discussed. All felt we have had good speakers. Suggestions were made to call agencies withlow attendance. Charlie will identify the members and assign board members to call to them. The National Forum deadline is April 30

th,

2011. Ed Valla motioned and it was seconded that Donna would be the only member attending. Wendi Sellers motioned for the remainderof the money that would be spent on more members attending the National Forum, approximately $6000.00 would be earmarked for the2013 National Forum in Orlando to send as many members as possible. The motion was seconded and passed. Brenda will head up themarketing campaign for Orlando to get members interested.

New Business: Mark Lovell and Trade Show Chair, David Bennett, handed out 300 “Save the Date” cards at FAPPO for the October TradeShow. For the October Trade Show on the TACNIGP website, Brenda suggested instead of going to a white page with a link to send you tothe flyer “Destination Success” that it should automatically take you to the flyer or have the flyer on the main page. Wendi suggestedreplacing National Forum link with the October Trade Show link. Agreed by all members.Nominations: 2 qualifying board members; Jason Ouzts and Vida Addison. Vice President; None. Charlie will send out a blast reminder fornominations and they will be due by Friday. The biographies will be in the May newsletter for voting in June.It was suggested to assign duties to Board Member seats. The majority did not agree.

Robert has scheduled Dr. McCue with Florida Atlantic University for the May Chapter Meeting and Karin Stanford with Mission San Luismuseum for June.

Charlie would like to have more volunteers for the invocation. Dave volunteered to contact members for the devotion and pledge. Gloriaagreed help, if the volunteer doesn’t show.

I know our field staff come up with cost savings ideas all the time –Prudential Davis Productivity Award winners prove that every year. I challenge all staff to examine your areas of expertise,ther it’s laundry, mail room, food service, work squads, etc., and make suggestions to your wardens and supervisors for costngs and improvements.
