MESSAGES
Nguyen Huynh
Incoming Lieutenant Governor
Until next time, YOLO, Nguyen Huynh :D
Hello Division 32! It was great seeing you all at my last DCM. My term, just like yours, has just
barely started and I am so excited to start off the new year. Thank you so much for making my first month as lieutenant governor amazing. I have been able to visit Kent-Meridian Key Club’s meeting and also their installation banquet. Congratulations to their new officer board. I have also been able to attend a Kiwanis DCM, which was a fun experience. I encourage you guys all to build relations with your Kiwanians for the upcoming year and always remember to visit them. There are only 2 months left in the 2011-2012 school year. The spring can turn into the craziest time of the year with allergies, AP/IB Exams, Convention and much more. I hope that you all stay well. I hope to be able to visit all of your clubs by the end of the year. Remember to eat breakfast and study hard! I will see you guys at my next DCM on May 18th at Coulon Beach.
P.S. To all you AP/IB exam takers, may the curve be EVER in your favor.

2012 DISTRICT PROJECT KIWANIS CHILDREN’S CANCER PROGRAM
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program was founded by Past Governor Frank Morehouse of the Pacific Northwest district in 2010. Past Governor Frank’s inspiration was a young cancer patient named Penny. Past Governor Frank worked at the hospital where Penny stayed. Penny was diagnosed with a brain tumor and would require surgery and radiation therapy. Penny would visit Past Governor Frank during her hospital stays and talk about what was happening to her. Penny eventually lost her battle with cancer. The KCCP is dedicated to Penny’s memory.
Our new Governor of the Pacific Northwest
District, Giovanni McKenzie, saw the need
for this project. He is now making sure that it
his duty to have Key Clubbers across our
district know more about children’s cancer
and make our contribution to finding a cure.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
The two greatest contributions you could make is to: •Help us educate! •Help us fundraise!

PARTNERS IN SERVICE: MARCH OF DIMES FOR MOMS AND BABIES EVERYWHERE
HELP SAVE NEWBORNS AND MOTHERS
March of Dimes Foundation
The mission of the March of dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. March of Dimes was founded by our 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in the fight against polio. After the discovery of the polio vaccine, March of Dimes focused their efforts to improve the health of babies and has been successful with the help and enthusiasm of many grassroots volunteers.
HOW DO KEY CLUBBERS HELP?
How we’ve helped
Key Clubbers fundraise thousands of dollars every year to prevent prematurity. March of Dimes goals are to raise awareness of prematurity and reduce the rate of premature births. Key Club is making it happen! Since 1978, Key Clubs have hosted fundraising awareness programs to support the March of Dimes, raising over $116,000 through fundraisers in 2011 alone! Key Club members, like you, can support the March of Dimes each semester, in the fall, raise awareness by hosting programs throughout November for Prematurity Awareness Month and in the spring, raise funds by participating in March for Babies, the march of Dimes largest annual fundraiser. HERSHEY’S TRACK & FIELD GAMES KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL’S NEWEST PARTNER
HERSHEY’S GAMES 101
What does Key Club do?
As Hershey’s Track & Field Games celebrate its 35th birthday, Kiwanis International is thrilled to enter its first year of partnership with the program. It’s a fitting relationship: Kiwanis’ mission is to serve the children of the world, and now we’re putting that energy and commitment to work through Hershey’s own longstanding program. After all, physical fitness and a healthy outlook are important components in a child’s quality of life. That’s why participation in HTFG makes perfect sense for Kiwanis, which consists of nearly 600,000 volunteers dedicated to the improvement of children’s lives. In particular, support of HTFG will be an integral part of the efforts of Key Club International, our service organization for high school students. Key Clubs will join or initiate HTFG events in their local communities. They’ll help promote the events and build excitement. They’ll volunteer to help manage event activities, and they’ll invite adult Kiwanians to volunteer as well. Meanwhile, members of our other youth programs – including Builders Club for middle school students and Kiwanis Kids for elementary school students – are primed to participate as athletes. Throughout the Kiwanis family, people of all ages are eager to begin this new opportunity for service and fellowship. On behalf of all our members, thank you for the chance to help provide inspiration, service and great memories to young people in the Kiwanis family and beyond. Best Regards, Stan D. Soderstrom Executive Director, Kiwanis International

OFFICER RESOURCES 2012-2013
AP and IB exams are slowly creeping towards us, so prepare for it
well! Here are a few tips on how to study better:
1. Get rid of the BEAST. Procrastination can be butt. Don’t let it get the better of you. So get off Facebook, Tumblr, or twitter and DO WORK, SON. 2. Get lots of rest! Enough sleep is important for effective studying and remembering. Don’t stay up late and cram. 3. Eat a healthy breakfast! Breakfast is the best way to start your day However, do not eat foods you are unfamiliar with. Eating well gives your body and brain the fuel it needs. 4. Manage your time. This applies to everything, and when you are studying. Study for short periods of time, then take breaks. 5. Review materials wisely! Review all the materials you do not know as well first, because the newest material will still be fresh in your mind.
