Welcome to May at SMADuring this current period, buyers have beenbusy across the SMA network, both at ourauction centres and online. The result of thisincreased activity has been a series of recordperformances in both volumes andconversions. So thank you to all our buyersand also to the growing number of vendorswho are helping to keep our buyers supplied!

Towards the end of April, we launchedanother new initiative in the form ofour first Motability e-Auction.

This has created huge interest and at the time ofwriting, registered buyer interest both local andnational has been huge. In fact, we have even receiveda number of registrations from international buyers!With this in mind, can I please encourage buyers tokeep an eye on our website and other marketing toensure that you are fully aware of all details of theforthcoming auctions which will include aGreen Auction at our Birmingham AuctionCentre at 11am on Tuesday 4th June,which will feature an extensive selection of vehicles ofsub-120g/km – there will be a fantastic range ofvehicles on offer.

One area of particular demand is LCVs. It is clear that,across the market, there is a shortage of stock at thistime. Inevitably this is pushing up prices and we areworking with fleet vendors to let them know that thereis a real sale opportunity right now in an effort to bringthrough additional units. To further help, pleaseremember that, at most of our auction centres, ourDealer Services team can help to complete anyremedial repairs or undertake PDI activity to ensurevans are appropriately prepared. For LCV’s (and cars)this can mean that valuable stock can be brought tothe market in forecourt ready condition and quickly, tomeet the needs of the buyers.

Across SMA we pride ourselves on our capacity towork closely with our customers and to deliver thetype of innovations that can add that bit of extra value.In terms of speed and service, we aim to be theindustry benchmark. In May, we aim to launch ourlatest innovation ‘Stock Saver’ – it is a new way to helpbuyers to get their newly purchased stock to marketeven faster.
