Summer Tutoring
Don’t let the “Summer Slide” happen to your child! Children o en lose newly learned skills over the sum‐mer months, making the new school year even more difficult. Whether your child needs help in one spe‐cific subject or just general review, summer tutoring can help. Ms Asysha Hartley, Elementary Individualized Instruc on teacher, will offer summer tutoring to K‐5 students in reading comprehension, word decoding skills, and math. Tutoring sessions will be held in her classroom at the elementary school. Time & length of session required will be arranged individually based on need. For details, or to set up a tutoring schedule, email to: [email protected]

Dear Germantown Hills SD #69 Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the last few weeks of the school year, I want to express my appreciation for the commitment of the students, teachers, and support staff of Germantown Hills School District #69 for their efforts in making this an incredible school year. I also want to thank our amazing parents and the community for their continued support and involvement.
While there are still challenges to be faced, our district remains strong due to our school community. I continue to be thrilled at the excellent instruc‐tion our teachers offer their students. I am equally delighted at the level of parental involvement in our district. Educating children and preparing them for the future is truly a team effort.
As the year comes to a close, I hope that the summer break gives you and your children a chance for rejuvenation. Have a safe, restful and enjoya‐ble summer, and I look forward to seeing you in August!
Sincerely,
Daniel Mair, Superintendent Germantown Hills School District #69

Grandparent’s Day a Huge Success!
Last month, our district carried on the annual tradi on of celebra ng our grandparents with
our 20th annual Grandparents’ Day. Students and their grandparents enjoyed a breakfast together, followed by visits to classrooms, a
tour of the school, and a chance to view student art dis‐plays.
Students enjoyed sharing part of their school day with their grandparents thanks to the efforts of many volunteers. We’d like to thank our faculty and staff for engaging our guests and students in fun ac vi es and helping with prepara ons; Mrs. Kiesewe er, Mrs. Bald‐win, and their kitchen staffs for our delicious break‐fasts; Mr. Cupples and his custodial staff for accommo‐da ng everyone and keeping our buildings spotless; Mr. Raffel and our student helpers for their assistance each day; our many parent volunteers who helped organize, served our a endees, and kept things running smooth‐ly; Germantown Hills Bap st Church for loaning us coffee and water carafes; Mrs. Marshall, Mr. Emlen, Mr. Marshall, Mrs. Hough, and Mrs. Waldschmidt for our shu le service; Woodford County Sheriff’s Department for assis ng with traffic control; Great Oaks Community Church for the use of their parking lot; and MTHS for loaning us chairs.
We had a record turnout with nearly 1200 grand‐parents and “grandfriends” in a endance! Our students enjoyed sharing their day and grandparents got a glimpse of what school is like nowadays. Grandparents' Day con nues to be such a wonderful way for students, grandparents, and grandfriends to share their school ex‐periences! What a truly memorable experience for all!!

3rd Grade Pioneer Play
Come join the fun at the annual 3rd grade Pioneer Play Thursday, May 12 in the JDS Gym beginning at 7 p.m. Enjoy the talents of our 3rd grade “pioneers” as students dance, sing, and entertain us with a tribute
to this important era in American history.
The best time to get your child’s sports physical is during summer break!
Sports physicals are good for one year from the date of issuance. The following sports require a physical to be on file in the junior high office before a student may participate:
• Cross Country • Baseball/Softball • Basketball • Cheerleading • Dance Team • Volleyball • Track
Save yourself that last-minute hassle—get your child’s sports physical before the school year begins!
What a GREAT idea!

Jump Rope for Heart Sets New Record!
Thanks to the enthusiasm of our K‐5 P.E. teachers Jonas Sco & Rob Ma hews, the excited enthusiasm of our K‐5 students, and the generosity of our community, we are very proud to announce that well over $11,000 was raised at EACH building for a total of just over $23,000 for the American Heart Associa on’s annual Jump Rope for Heart cam‐paign. Students earned small prize incen ves along the way, but the TOP fundraisers got to pull a prank on their P.E. teacher during a special assembly. At the elementary school, students duct taped Mr. Sco to the wall, and at the middle school, the top 3rd‐5th grade fundraising students put a pie in Mr. Ma hew’s face! The student who raised the most money of all this year was Tris n Garren, who raised $600 all by himself. He was given the honor of pu ng the FIRST pie in Mr. Ma hew’s face. It’s great to be a Germantown Hills Warrior!
