MAY 2017 BUCKEYE BREEZE

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. Maya Angelou Kind hearts in the garden, Kind thoughts are the roots, Kind words are the blossoms, Kind deeds are the flowers!

I cannot believe that May is here and my year as your Madam State President is fast approaching. It has been an amazing journey thru the “Flower Garden”. Thank you for the memories I will cherish!

I would like to wish a very HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to my State Mother Nancy Mack, State Grandmother Eleanor Buhren and all of the mothers in our great fraternity. You are all so special to me and I am blessed to have you in my life! I hope you have a wonderful day!

My travel plans for the month of May are:

• Thursday, May 4th I will be at the Crowne Plaza for “State Convention” set-up meeting. • Saturday, May 6th I will be at Delaware #376 for State God, Flag and Country competition at 10 am.

These young adults have done a great job in their Zones and will be competing at State level and the winners will go on to represent Ohio at International Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan. That evening Delaware #376 hosts WP Randy’s and my Testimonial. Thank you Delaware for hosting and Faye Baum and Barb Stull for being my Co-Chairs.

• Sunday, May 7th I will be attending my District #14 meeting at Bellevue #490 • Saturday, May 13th Delta #2597 will present the Memorial Service for our deceased members at 4 pm. • Saturday, May 20th Delta Eagle Riders #2597 will host a charity ride for my state charity, Sara’s

Garden. Come on out and enjoy the ride. The cost is $10 meal included. They will have a chicken dinner after the ride at a cost of $8 for non-riders.

That rounds up my travels for the month.

Remember to attend your local Memorial Day Services. Because of these men and women who have served and are serving we have the opportunity to live in a great country. I am proud that my father (Army-WW2), Uncle (Navy- Korean War & Viet Nam), Brother (Army- Viet Nam), Son (Navy- Desert Storm) and my grandson who will be enlisting in the Marines after he graduates in May.

PRAYERS, THOUGHTS AND CARDS JPSMP Gwen Salyers is now home. Her heart cath showed not enough blockage for stents, but will be having heart ablation in the near future. Please continue your prayers for Gwen.

Vera Dixon passed away on April 9th 2017. She was a member of Cheviot Eagles Auxiliary #2197. Donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. Cards can be sent to the family at: 3343 Diehl Road, Cincinnati, OH 45211.

I'm sad to report that Candy Courtney lost her last sibling, her sister, recently. Please remember Candy in your prayers during this difficult time. Cards can be sent to her at: 9561 Wabash Rd, Rockford, OH 45882 It is with deep regret that I have the sad duty of reporting the passing of Ellie Glaser, Past State Aerie Grandmother, on Sunday, April 9, 2017. She was 97 years young. Ellie was an active and dedicated member of Wright Auxiliary #2641 for many years. She was very honored when she and her husband, Junior, were selected by Doyle Thrasher as the State Aerie's Grandparents during his term as Worthy State President. To all my Eagle Sisters and Brothers: I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the cards, well wishes, positive thoughts and especially the prayers. I am doing better; soon I will see Medical Oncologist and the Radiation Oncologist to see when I start doing Chemo. Radiation will follow the Chemo. So, again, thank you for everything. See you at the Testimonial, or if not then, at State Convention. Love to all, Sara

The State Trustees are accepting donations of gift cards for the State Convention raffles. Please consider donating from your Auxiliary, District, and/or yourself! Please send donations to your Zone's State Trustee. Thanking you, in advance, your State Trustees.

Dear Daughters: Happy Mother’s Day! Hope you’re enjoying the nice weather. Saw many of you at Zone and Bryan did a fantastic job. Everything was wonderful. Hope to see you at Queen Bee, Su’s, and Randy’s Testimonial and State Convention, should be a great time. Thanks, Sue, for making me the Mother this year. I have been enjoying hearing “daughters” say “Hi, Mom.” It’s been a thrill of a lifetime. Hope to see you all soon!! Nancy Mack

Fellow Eagle Brothers and Sisters: I will be your convention hospitality chairman along with Casey Horn. We could use donations such as snacks, relish trays, veggie trays, cheese trays, salads, desserts, and anything else you would like to donate. If you’re not coming to the convention, but would like to donate money, that would be AWESOME. Also, could you please let me know what you are bringing so Casey and I can plan ahead. THANK YOU, Brenda Ludwig
