LITTLE WOMEN ON MASTERPIECE
Based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott and loved by generations of women worldwide, "Little Women" is a universal coming-of-age story. Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, the story follows sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March on their journey from childhood to adulthood. With the help of their mother, Marmee -- and while their father is away at war -- the girls navigate what it means to be a young woman: from sibling rivalry and first love to loss and marriage. This adaptation is from the award-winning creator of "Call the Midwife," Heidi Thomas, who also wrote "Cranford" and the latter-day "Upstairs Downstairs" for Masterpiece.

PACIFIC HEARTBEAT
Pacific Heartbeat, now in its seventh season, is an anthology series that provides viewers with a glimpse of the real Pacific—its people, culture and contemporary issues. From revealing exposés to in-depth profiles and unexpected histories, the series features a diverse array of programs that draw viewers into the heart, mind and soul of Pacific Island culture. The first film in the collection, Poi E: The Story of Our Song, tells the story of how "Poi E," a simple song with a catchy beat, became New Zealand’s unofficial national anthem. The second documentary, Being Bruno Banani, is about the first and only Tongan luger who managed to qualify in an amazingly short amount of time for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. The third and final film, Making Good Men, chronicles the story of two men — Norm Hewitt, a former New Zealand rugby player, and actor Manu Bennett — who reconcile many years after they were in a violent fight at a boarding school (one boy attacked the other).
Three part series airs Tuesdays at 8PM beginning May 15th

ORCHARD HOUSE: HOME OF LITTLE WOMEN
Orchard House: Home of Little Women is a captivating new documentary that transports viewers to a 350-year-old home in Concord, Massachusetts with literary and historical significance unlike any other. It is here that the classic novel, Little Women, was written and set. With a nurturing, talented family as owners and literary giants Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Nathaniel Hawthorne as neighbors, Orchard House uniquely inspired Louisa May Alcott to write
Little Women at a desk in her room that her father made especially for her. This classic and beloved novel has never been out of print. The documentary uncovers a fascinating piece of living history - a pilgrimage site for scholars and fans alike. This enduring and lively house speaks to the power of place in a way few American homes ever have. It also reveals the powerful historical, literary, and very human elements of the home and the people who lived there. This program tells the story of Orchard House through archival photographs, letters and journal entries from one of the most well-documented families in American literary history, along with interviews of scholars and fans - including world class artists, Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, and first-time visitors - in this entertaining and informative family-friendly film.

HOLOCAUST SOLILOQUY
Holocaust Soliloquy is a story of one man, one poem, and one mission. Peter Fischl was 13-years-old when Hungarian Jews were rounded up and killed during WWII. Unlike his father, Fischl survived: a so-called, "hidden child of the Holocaust." This 52-minute documentary, by Emmy-winning journalist Peter Musurlian, tells the story of Fischl's survival and of a poem he wrote, inspired by a haunting and iconic photograph. He called the poem, "“To the Little Polish Boy Standing with His Arms Up.” Fischl used the poem as his own personal therapy, as well as a vehicle to educate children about the horrors of the Holocaust. We see Fischl, over nearly two decades, in a classrooms and auditoriums, teaching tolerance to students from dozens of cultures. In Europe, Fischl visited the places in Budapest where he hid to survive. He also journeyed to the Auschwitz, where the "little Polish boy" is believed to have perished.

YAN CAN COOK: SPICE KINGDOM
"Yan can cook, so can you!" has always been the motto of chef and television host Martin Yan. Celebrating Chinese cuisine, and making it easy for cooks to prepare and delicious for guests to enjoy has been his life-long mission. Born in Guangzhou in southern China, chef Yan is
technically a second generation "culinarian," who was first inspired by his mother in the tiny kitchen of their family restaurant. In Yan Can Cook: Spice Kingdom, Yan explores the many aspects of how food and spices helped shape the history and culture of western China. The series takes a comprehensive look at the region, tracing its early history to its water source at Dujiangyan. Named "Tian Fu" by Chinese scholars and historians, which means the land of heavenly abundance, the region's rich farm land and temperate climate gave rise to 23 centuries of uninterrupted history. In this culinary journey, Yan also examines daily life in the region - from a whirlwind tour of street snacks to a leisurely cup of tea at historical tea houses. Back in the kitchen, Yan demonstrates his own take on the flavors and dishes of western China.

COMEDY BOOTCAMP: THE DOCUMENTARY
Today, less than one percent of Americans have served in the military, a significant decrease from 17 percent who served in World War II. As fewer civilians have friends or family in the armed services, it is difficult to understand the journey our veterans have faced. Comedy Bootcamp: The Documentary shines a light on today's returning service members, shadowing a new class of former military veterans as they embark on a journey to share their stories and connect with others - through comedy. The heartwarming documentary follows several participants as they attend weekly classes, led by professional stand-up comedians, designed to help them and other individuals of the military community develop their performing and writing skills. Throughout the process, some of the individuals discover a new outlet to discuss the struggles they face in their transition to civilian life.
