LIVE WORKING ASSOCIATION (LWA) An association of eight countries (Hungary, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Germany and Czech Republic) with the scope of promoting and coordinating the activities of the various member countries in accordance with national circumstances so that there are no regulation or standardization measures

taken that could impede the development and practical performance of Live Working.

LWA promotes European industrial policy with respect to national economies and market regulations particularly through exchanges of information on decisions related to important investments in order to optimise the development of LW.

LWA achieves its objects by all appropriate methods, notably it organises the periodical conference ICOLIM.

ASOCIATIA PENTRU LUCRUL SUB TENSIUNE DIN ROMANIA (ALSTR) – THE ROMANIAN LIVE WORKING ASSOCIATION

ALSTR represents the Romanian technical authority in the field of Live Maintenance, in respect of the electrical installations within the Romanian Power System and the consultant organism of the management of TRANSELECTRICA, SMART, ELECTRICA and other companies interested in this field.

C.N. TRANSELECTRICA S.A.

The Romanian Power Grid Company “TRANSELECTRICA” SA is the Transmission and System Operator (TSO) of the entire Romanian Power System. It is a joint stock, state-owned company, with eight branches,

with a high share of public assets and a high degree of autonomy and functions according to transmissions and systems operator licenses and the transmission grid code.

S.C. ELECTRICA S.A.

SC Electrica SA is a state-owned company.

Its core activity is electricity distribution, supply and provision of the infrastructure of communications and information technology, which should allow high-quality management on the liberalized market, taking into account the competition in the field. The company’s main activities are the operation and development of the distribution system, communications and information technology, as well as the activities related to the supply of electricity to their customers.

LWA

S.C. SMART S.A.

The Commercial Company for Power Transmission Grid Maintenance Services – „SMART” SA emerged in compliance with Romanian laws in force and is operating according to its own statute. The main goal of SMART activity is to provide maintenance services for the power transmission grid. SMART SA provides services of maintenance, current repairs, overhauls for OHL’s and cabling, primary (0.40-750kV) and secondary power equipment, automation, protections and telecommu-nications.

From The Conference Main

Welcome to ICOLIM 2004 On behalf of the ICOLIM – 2004 Organizing Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our 2004 Conference. It is the 7th International Conference on Live Mainte-nance. The six previous conferences took place in

• Hungary 1992

• France 1994

• Italy 1996

• Portugal 1998

• Spain 2000

• Germany 2002. It is a great honor for our country to be given the opportunity to organize a technical – scientific event of

such importance. Ever since 1979, Romania has been promoting Live Maintenance within the high voltage power grid (220-400kV), in co-operation with a partner from the former Democratic Republic of Germany. Nowadays, CN Transelectrica – the Romanian transmission and system operator and SC Electrica – the Romanian distribution operator, are the promoters of Live Maintenance within the high voltage power grid (220-400kV), respectively low voltage, medium voltage and 110kV. Furthermore, I am convinced that this conference will be a significant element in the future developing of Live Maintenance generally, and in Romania especially. The themes of this conference are centered on the following main subjects:

• Live maintenance in low, medium and high voltage fields

• Laws and regulations

• EHV networks monitoring. The technical committee of LWA together with ICOLIM 2004 Organizing Committee developed a technical

program that covers the following aspects concerning:

• Live Maintenance methods and procedures

• Economics

• Work safety

• Quality and efficiency

• Training

• Monitoring of power grid and equipments. Our exhibitors will be displaying the latest developments in this area that can help your company to work

more efficiently and in a cost effective manner. Our demonstrations will be the highlight of ICOLIM 2004. I hope that over the next three days, you will be able to take advantage of all the learning opportunities

that are at your disposal. Take some time to share ideas as well as learn what others are doing as far as Live Mainte-nance is concerned.

All the participants, exhibitors, field demonstration companies will share their strategies, ideas and vision for the future of Live Maintenance.

I hope that you will benefit from this opportunity offered with the occasion of ICOLIM 2004. Please, take some time and enjoy the Romanian tourist attractions as well.

Respectfully yours, Stelian Gal,

General Chairman of ICOLIM 2004
